"A big part of that stagnancy could be business development, or winning new business in general. The sales culture and sales mentality is what leads to the upper echelons of compensation and status at firms, and it could be that women aren't successfully breaking into those roles. What we can say from evidence in the study is that new adviser positions that carve out these responsibilities, such as business development officer or business development specialist, are overwhelmingly male (96% for partners and 72% for employees), which underscores the fact that these responsibilities or opportunities aren't necessarily being embraced by or allocated to women."

Smells like entitlement by gender...
Nah. Republicrats war on women. Republicrats want to run all women out of the country according to debbie blabbermouth schultz.
If one does not produce, one does not advance.
At least in the real world.
Yeah, that’s been my experience, those numbers are pretty accurate Markets tend to shake things through, don’t they?
And there’s that thing called “The Mommy Factor” too
But hey, let’s mislead by quoting statistics that don’t reflect “what the country ‘looks like’” and call it “discrimination” on its face
Most, if not all, female run businesses are set up that way to take advantage of government set-asides.
Guilt, all based on it...
From the ones who are the worst offenders...
As the number of men of higher status who can grant a woman higher status decline, her charms and entitlement complaints lose their power.
And this calamity has befallen us during the most left-wing, progressive administration in United States history.
THAT'S how the enemy wins over us
They tell us it comes in all colors and we argue about which color and what shade when ...
The question should be ...
Do you WANT it in green?
I just need your approval right here ....
Reality is a lot of business is conducted with foreigners, and with foreign businessmen, when they come to the States, they have certain expectations of where they’d like to conduct business, and in many cases it is conducted at “Men’s Clubs”.
Nope, I'm going to put my chauvinist hat on for a moment, because I'm in a bad mood today. IMO, there are two reasons why women aren't more successful in business...
1) They don't want it.
2) They can't do it.
Face it, success today in a large multinational corporation requires long (long!) hours, ridiculous travel, and grinding stress. It's a 24/7 environment where you're never "off". You need to be right, and "on", all of the time. And, it's Darwinian. Screw up, and there are plenty of people waiting to take your place. Heck, DON'T screw up, just get caught leaning the wrong way when your company goes on a binge for outsourcing or layoffs, and you're moving back to "Go". Don't collect $200 on the way, though.
It's a lousy environment for both men and women. The competitive nature of men gives them an advantage, even when they're handicapped by the Gods of Political Correctness.
So - lots of women don't want it. My lovely wife, for instance, took one look at the job market, and one look at our kids, and said "Screw this, I'm staying home." Can't blame her, and I'm glad she did. No sense in both of us punishing ourselves.
As for the "Can't do it", plenty of men can't hack it either. Is it proportional to women? No idea.
You’re right; I work with a few token females (with pay & titles but very vague responsibilities). They have little input in progress meetings (because they aren’t working on anything), instead playing with their cellphones while the men talk business. They are a welcome relief from long hours because as they work the bare minimum it opens the door for us men to do the same - and the anti-discrimination policies come back to bite the company in the rear.
A lot of women that wanted to “play man” aren’t liking it at all...
My wife describes how a female co-worker watches her kids on a “nanny-cam” connected to the daycare center. Can anyone pretend this “worker” is contributing anything?
What a joke...
I’ve worked with women who were very, very qualified, and working at the sharp end on the stick. AND, Woe be unto he who suggests that their success was due to anything other than hard work.
But, they’re unicorns. Fairly rare. Lots more women in HR and Communications and Marketing, where there’s more room for touchy feely make work jobs. Training. Eye candy for the Sales Dept. that sort of thing.
Like you said, it’s fine. The company can point to them as “diversity”. They don’t accomplish much, but they don’t do much damage, either.
Gestating babies.
Men cannot hold a candle to their skills in this area
I’ve worked for and with a couple of very sharp women in finance; nowadays they are given token positions in those areas as well (simply being paid for others’ work, without having a clue). Some of them are toys for divorced lonely men in powerful positions, others are just good ass-kissers. In any case, they are completely useless; the company would function fine without them, but they never move on because of the sweet deal they have.
