On Tuesday night, after months of political heartburn, things finally started cutting Hillary Rodham Clinton’s way.
Her performance at the first Democratic presidential debate was so commanding that even her greatest vulnerability — the lingering controversy over her private email practices as secretary of state — ended up redounding to her benefit.
After she crisply explained that she made a “mistake” using a private email server and defended her judgment, the moderator, Anderson Cooper of CNN, turned to her biggest threat in the primary campaign so far, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, in hopes that he would attack her. Mr. Sanders instead came to her aid.
“Let me say something that may not be great politics, but I think the secretary is right — and that is that the American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails,” Mr. Sanders said to cheers and a standing ovation from the Democratic audience.
“Thank you!” Mrs. Clinton said, reaching out and shaking his hand. “Me, too! Me, too!”
Highlights From the Debate
Catch up on analysis of the first Democratic presidential debate featuring Hillary Rodham Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee.
All night, the debate played to Mrs. Clinton’s advantage and to her opponents’ limitations. From gun control and banking regulations to debt-free college and Social Security benefits, Mrs. Clinton positioned herself as a champion of liberals, young people, and the elderly — the very voters who make up the Sanders coalition — while also repeatedly reaching out to women, as an advocate for families and children (and as, potentially, the nation’s first female president).

I am sick of hearing about it too with no action. Put her in jail already. You or me would be. We would be like the man that made the so called video. We would have been put in the dark corner with no due process.
No one should be surprised that the MSM will be her fanboy. Donald Trump will have to remind the populace of the truth. Any doubt he’s up to the task?
The NYTimes is doing its best to pump up Nixon-with-a-vagina.
JIM WEBB WON !
I watched part of it till I was disgusted and turned it off.
Hilary made a comment about wall street corruption and excesses (I can’t remember just what she said) but she noted that they should be in jail...HUH???? Hillary Hack My Server Clinton suggesting someone ELSE should be in jail???
And all of them pushing for free stuff...
Free college tuition, expand medicare to everyone (know how sorry medicare is?), obamacare for illegal immigrants, $15 minimum wage, I can’t remember it all...
and nobody said a word about how they expect to pay for it all..can you say higher taxes?
Not much about the email scandal, and of course her buddy Bernie cut that off at the knees...but it’s not the email issue itself, it’s her credibility and dishonesty that bothers people. Virtually everything she has said has been lies. And they all shielded her...
Disgusting...
ROTF!
I am certain the sole purpose of this debate was to make Hillary look good. It was not a real debate at all. I wonder how much Bernie was paid to defend the liar?
Every poll shows her losing badly to Bolshevik Bernie.
Well, a lot of Mafia bosses managed to continue running their operations from prison. Maybe her supporters think she can do something similar if president.
It was apparent to me that Sanders doesn't stand a chance in the general, and it is doubtful that he's capable of winning the nomination. He's a ranting old socialist who would be even weaker on the world stage than Obama. Who on earth can listen to Hillary's monotone canned responses and think she's Presidential material?
I guess this is from last night. It wouldn’t have been Hillary if she hadn’t gotten at least one cackle in....overblown, over-exaggerated laughter...People will know I’m genuinely sincere when they see what a good sport I am....
These stories were probably written weeks ago, just waiting for some lines about the specifics to be plugged in.
The Bernie Sanders comment should have been expected. I don’t think Sanders is in it to win, but rather drag Hillary to the Left.
The emails stories present a distraction from that, plus if they gain traction that she’ll lose the general. In which case Sanders’ efforts to pull her left will have been in vain.
An average person in a land of midgets looks like a giant.
Dude... thanks a lot.
My favorite moment was when she said she went to "Wall Street in 2007 and told them to cut it out." How presidential, how articulate, such a flipping lie.
