Russia using Syria as a Testing Range
Coach Is Right ^ | 10/17/2015 | Jim Emerson

Russia has been using her newest weapons in attacks against anti-Assad rebel and terrorist forces in Syria. After two weeks the intelligence community and military officials are surprised by Russia’s transformation from the collapsed Soviet Union into a nation which can effectively project power beyond its borders. In fact, “surprise” is too mild a description; actually they were shocked that Russia could pull it off.

Unfortunately-and perhaps, tragically- too many analysts in the American intelligence community are still stuck in a cold war mentality, unable to join with current events by believing that

Vladimir Putin could modernize the Russian military. Now Putin is just beginning to display a modern Russian force which can project power without resorting to nuclear or economic threats. The show of force is also sending a message to Ukraine. Russia has apparently learned from its mistakes in Afghanistan, Chechnya and the Republic of Georgia.

Russia is “providing a public demonstration of new weaponry, tactics and strategy.” Sukhoi Su-34 Fullbacks, Su-30 Flanker-Cs, Su-25 Frogfoots, and Su-24 Fencers have been used to demonstrate the expertise of the Russian Bear in bombing terrorists. Even the Russian navy is participating by launching ship-based cruise missiles from locations more than 900 miles into the Caspian Sea. How much of this technology was gathered by soy and Russian hackers?

A new cold war has begun and all Obama and Kerry can do in response is bluster. Talk, however, is cheap, befitting both the American president and his imbecilic, overmatched Secretary of State. America, under Obama’s Rules of Engagement, is being restricted-deliberately restricted- from effectively fighting against ISIS. Obama’s best chance to “Arab Spring” Assad has been stolen by Putin who is already down the court dunking for two easy points. Obama is way out of his league regarding foreign policy and the ability to form alliances; alliances Russia has been working to form for its fight in Syria.

Russian Jets have been providing air support to Syrian ground troops advancing into rebel held territories. They later will provide support for an Iranian-led offensive further west. Cubans will augment ground support. Russia had planned these operations for months with America’s, not Obama, but America’s enemy and executed with the coordination of an allied force. Obama doesn’t have that when the Turks are busy attacking the Kurds who are actually fighting ISIS on the ground. Who could blame them if they decided to align themselves with Putin? Russia is establishing “lines of communication between our militaries in connection with events taking place in Syria.” They are talking to Turkey to make sure Russian jets don’t violate its airspace again.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told Interfax that “Russian and Israeli military pilots began joint training to prevent dangerous incidents in the sky.” The Russian and Israeli Air Forces (IAF) have also established a hot line. These are the same people Obama and Kerry promised with protection from the IAF. What is wrong with this picture?

Syria is to Russia as the Spanish Civil War was to Germany.

Meanwhile, Americans have elected leadership that is more concerned about promoting homosexuality and what amounts to mutilation to resemble a member of the opposite gender.

“How much of this technology was gathered by soy and Russian hackers?”

Why hack? They have had exclusive access to everything for
the past 6 years.

Hillary’s red button “reset” (or “overload” in the properly translated Russian) has reset us alright, back to the peak of soviet might at the apex of the Cold War.

Good job Obama! (And Hillary)

Soviets used the Spanish civil war for testing too. The Swedes need to use Malmo and other Islamist infestations in their country as live fire combat in cities testing areas.

I hope our intelligence community is paying attention. Let them show what they've got.

And we don’t use our meddling in the affairs of others and entangling alliances as a testing ground? Average people in the world want peace, opportunity, family stability, government that is honest, fair and responsive and run by the people, and not elites.

War mongers spend their time ànd money figuring and conniving a way to incense the average people to go out and die for the war monger cause, even though the threat is not on the homefront doorsteps. When we are actually being invaded they do nothing except give invaders our healthcare and welfare.

Syria is to Russia as the Spanish Civil War was to Germany.

That's the first thing I thought when I read the headline.
