Many years ago when I was in my 20s, I flashed my lights to warn of a speed trap and it turned out to be an unmarked cop car. He spun his car in a 180 and immediately pulled me over. His face was literally beet red and he was screaming and yelling at me that I was interfering in efforts to catch speeders. In my opinion, I was helping the cause by forcing people to slow down.
Anyway, he didn't even give me a ticket. But was he ever pissed about it.
Which only highlights the truth. It’s not about safety, but about revenue.
My two experiences with being pulled over.... Case 1... Cop pulled me over called me names and ridiculed me..... No ticket.... Case 2... Cop very nice ... Got ticket..... I prefer the case 1 model
There are individuals who are addicted to the adrenalin rush. As a correctional officer, I worked with an officer who, during line-up at the beginning of our shift, would start huffing and puffing and making menacing faces. By the time we entered the dayroom to relieve the other shift, he was all hopped up on adrenalin. If we had any trouble, it would have been because of him.
How did you avoid getting shot?
One time my uncle flashed his lights to warn about a speech trap. Another cop saw it and decided that my uncle needed a random car safety inspection right then. When they got to the headlight inspection Officer Smartass said “That’s funny, the lights seem to be on nice and steady now.” In the end my uncle’s car passed inspection, he got the sticker to prove it and didn’t get a ticket.
Years ago I was driving a car with my young son as a passenger. The traffic went from a highway speed zone of 55 mph to a commercial zone for 30 mph. My young son and I were singing as we slowed to 25 mph. A cop pulled us over and claimed I was driving to slow for the traffic flow especially for him in back of us. I had to take a day off work to go to court. The judge laughed at the cops charge and dismissed the ticket. To this day I have trouble believing that cops are always playing the rules legally and sanely.
