Sometimes the truth is ugly. That is who Santorum is. He needs to go away.

He’s also success-free, an unbroken record.

Santorum is a flip-flopper from the get-go. On the one hand he says that unborn children are persons. On the other hand, he supports bills that say it's ok to kill some of those children without due process. None of the big name candidates get this matter (of defending the unalienable right to life) right. In 2012, my presidential vote went to FReeper EternalVigilance. In 2008, I voted for another candidate who I first heard speak at a Free Republic rally during Clinton impeachment era -- Alan Keyes. See a comparison of their perspective vs Santorum's at ProlifeProfiles.com. See the excellent platform of the party that nominated Dr Keyes and Mr Hoefling at America's Party. Let's raise up 435 new House candidates this year that take such a platform seriously

So. So was Reagan. Big deal. People can change and become conservative. Reagan and Santorum are the same with regards to abortion. Both were baby killers until they “saw Jesus” and it made both of them better people.

You remind of a purity only Pro-Lifer.If I don’t get 100 percent let me take the dive and lose. Saint John Paul 11 favored picking the most electable Pro-Life candidate.

Well, I too voted for both Alan Keyes and Tom Hoefling, so we belong to a very small group indeed. (I supported Rick Santorum in 2012 until he dropped out.) But the website at your link is curious at best. If indeed you despise Santorum for his lack of ardent support for life, then of necessity, according to your chart, this means that you despise even more National Right to Life, Focus on the Family, Phyllis Schlafly and LifeNews, since they are listed on that chart as being even worse than Santorum. Given all of that, exactly whom are you supporting this cycle?

Success-free? To the contrary. His successes are many and significant. He, perhaps more than any other person, is the reason that we no longer have partial-birth abortion in this country. (He was the person who introduced the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act.) He also played an integral role in the exposure of the House Banking and Post Office scandals. Those are just a start.

Santorum is a loser who is beholden to the union thugs.

He’s a strange person who can’t talk like a normal human being as well.

Just another pseudo-conservative welfare queen who’s gotten rich pretending to fight against liberalism.

No different than Huckabee or Yeb.

I will never understand the hatred and vitriol for Santorum on a Conservative website. The man has lived his beliefs (unlike Huckabee).

I wouldn’t want him as President and didn’t vote for him in the last republican primary but I supported him as US Senator from PA.He’s a good conservative man.He doesn’t hate this Country as so many of our elected officials seem to.

I favor each voter deciding what their own minimum standards are when it comes to supporting candidates, and if none of the existing candidates for an office meet that minimum standard, well, help raise up someone who does.

What century were those highlights of his career?

Well, it was a little bit of hyperbole, but he was defeated in his home state, and has been running for President ever since. That is usually not the springboard to the Presidency (Abe Lincoln excepted), and he has gone literally nowhere with nothing to show for his perpetual effort ever since 2006. He should have fought for his seat back, or run for Governor, or done something valuable in private enterprise in the years since, but he has spent that time running for higher office because, at one time long ago, he was thought of highly in the party.

I do respect that he has been pretty steadfast in his positions over the years, but it was over for him after 06, and he is just wasting everyone's time.

There are times when ardent would be nice, like as a counter to Hillary's comment in recent debate characterizing pro-life as pro-big government, but my minimum standard for candidates on right to life is quite straightforward: The Constitution requires that no person be deprived of their life without due process, yet on a typical day in the US, thousands of persons are deprived of their lives without due process. I do not support any candidate who would vote for, or sign into law, legislation that codifies any such unconstitutional deprivation of life.

I don't despise those who fail to meet my minimum standard.

None of the big name candidates this year meet my minimum standard. Maybe America's Party will again nominate someone who comes close to representing my views on a wide range of important issues.

What a pleasure to meet somebody else who voted for Keyes in 2008 and Hoefling in 2012. Best wishes.

Thanks. I also voted for Keyes in 2000. I bristle a bit when people accuse me of being racist for not voting for Obama. I’ve voted for a black man for President as often as most Obama supporters have. Best wishes to you.
