Burlington, Iowa (CNN)Playing to Hawkeye State evangelical voters, Donald Trump riffed on religious political correctness at an event here Wednesday by vowing to always say "Merry Christmas" come the winter holiday season.
"I'm a good Christian," the Republican presidential front-runner said. "If I become president, were gonna be saying Merry Christmas at every store ... You can leave happy holidays at the corner."

I correct the clerk’s. This nation was founded on Christmas principles. It deserves that recognition. It is what made us great.

If the store wants my Christmas money then they will have to acknowledge and honor the Christmas holiday that is blessing them with my money.

Considering that many stores use "happy holidays" to appeal to the broadest possible customer base (including people like me, who do not celebrate Christmas), how the heck would Trump cause people to say Merry Christmas at "every store"?
