I don’t care what anyone says, but hunting down and killing these magnificent God’s creations FOR FUN ( and “SPORT”?!!! LOL!) is sick, deranged, and immoral beyond words.

If God didn’t want us to hunt them, why did He make us the greatest predators this planet has ever seen?

AS long as the meat is put to good use and feeds people who need it how in the world could you possible consider it immoral. There are plenty of examples of people hunting in the bible and it is never condemned. How then could it be "immoral"? Look, if you don't like hunting then don't do it but spare us your self righteous whining.

That is because you are ignorant of what is involved in an elephant hunt.

I highly recommend if you really care you look into a legal hunt and how they are organized and what happens if they don’t hunt them.
The hunter gets nothing but the tail and a worthless mold of the tusks (thats right the locals get the tusks). The locals get all the animal and they use it all nothing is wasted.

If you are only driven by emotions then enjoy your life of misery but don’t push that off on everyone else.

The meat from the hunts IS eaten; by hungry people who
depend on hunters for their meat - which they are glad
to get. We all have life spans; elephants included.
Lions included. - Never a sparrow doth fall without the
knowledge of the Creator!

The other evening late, a bird flew into our large back
window. I went out to try to rescue it; which I have
sometimes done over these 30 years. It was flopping
around in the thick leaves on the ground. I couldn’t get
to it without walking through those leaves. We have
rattlesnakes and copperheads out here. God gave me
enough sense not to clomp through piles of leaves this
time of year before snakes go into hibernation. - Both
our dog and our cat nosed around for the bird. It was
alert & I think it flew away - I hope it did anyway.
If it didn’t, Brutus the cat got a dinner thanks to
the Lord. If it did make it; good for it!

Husband is bringing home Subway sandwiches for supper
tonight. We all gotta eat! Twinkie eats meat!!

It’s just like deer . The area can only really sustain so many . When herds get to big for an area they begin to starve and disease sets in. Controlled hunting is good for reserves as is controlled felling of trees and removing debris.

Hunts like this big needed funds to an area too .

I love guns. I love hunting.

But elephants are smart. I don't like hunting smart critters. Deer are dumber. They are more like antlered rats.

I'm not for hunting elephants.

I agree with you parisa, based on my understanding of the Dietary Laws in Deuteronomy and Numbers, and in the processes for shechita developed in Oral Torah and halakha.

While there is logic inherent in the principles of hunting to thin out an over abundance of species lest they die of starvation, I’ve yet to see a trophy of such an emaciated animal. That the elephant in this case, “Would probably have died”, is an assumption, and did not, in my opinion, justify its being thus taken.

I myself love shooting, but would not, outside of defense, bring it to bear against an animal.

Hunting is not cruel.

Predation is cruel.

Therefore hunting predators is kind. Kill wolves and lions.
