Researchers at a Dallas childrens hospital aim to show that non-powder firearms such as airsoft, BB and paintball guns should be viewed as powerful weapons rather than toys.
A study by researchers with Childrens Medical Center Dallas shows that those devices are causing increasingly severe and sometimes life-threatening injuries in pediatric patients, the group said on Oct. 23. They will present the findings at the American Academy of Pediatrics Conference and Exhibition in Washington, D.C. on Sunday.
Non-powder guns are not toys, and an adult should always supervise their use by children, said Dr. Nina Mizuki Fitzgerald, lead researcher of the study, in press materials.

Funny, they weren’t too dangerous for me when I was a kid.
Not into the airsoft stuff, but I got one of those “high power” pellet guns at 1300fps...nice!
They were. Just that nobody told you to fear for your life. :>} Me, now, after the 1st grader munched that pop tart into the shape of a gun, I can’t look at pop tarts the same without being terrified.
The assault wabbits attacking my grass in the backyard don’t care for my assault pellet gun much. It IS dangerous for them. I’ve taken out an eye or two.
between the government and the fact that half the boys are being raised by just women this generation is going to be a pack of you know whats
Next to motor vehicle-related injuries, bicycles injure more children than any other consumer product, according to the National SAFE KIDS Campaign.
Yeah, but those aren’t guns. :>}
I can tell you from experience that they are dangerous for adults too. That’s why they’re fun.
Gotta take a man down and only have a paintball gun? Shoot him where it hurts. He’ll drop in a heap.
Same here. To this idiot libtard, replace gun with fire truck and you can still hit someone’s shin.
This week bacon is bad, now toy guns are bad. Welcome to the rule of His High Idiot from Kenya.
And you have been walking since then with a white cane, right?
My brother still has a bb under his tongue after being intentionally shot in the throat by the neighbor kid. At the time the doctors said it was too risky to remove it.
We have a house that is constantly being used by the neighboring children for target practice. I can’t tell you how many expensive windows I have replaced over the years. So I am a strong fan of airsoft bb guns for kids. They can probably still take an eye out and maybe even kill or stun a bird on occasion, but I don’t think that they can break a typical window. Kids have even less respect for other people’s property these days than they did decades ago when I was a kid.
We own a fairly impressive arsenal of real guns. I think that BB guns could be used to teach firearms safety, but unfortunately most the time they do the opposite. In my opinion they have the same effect as video games where kids become desensitized to the seriousness and responsibility of handling a real firearm.
Frigging Nerf guns are too dangerous for Leftists. Most any implement that can actually perform a function beyond electronic stimulation is dangerous for children and the left wants to regulate those too.
If you don’t teach your children respect for their tools, nature will do it for you.
yes, accidents can happen and government has to do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
let’s start by taking away all the researchers’ automobiles
Yeah, but that was from the soap his mother made in eat because he said the ‘F’ word.

What’s the max effective range on that thing?
I’ve been kind of interested in the Benjamin .357 airgun myself.
Not sure but I was shooting at a target on our property (heavily dense woods) about 80 feet away and the round went right through a quarter inch plywood panel.
