Why Is Obama's Meeting with Indonesian President Important?
The Huffington Post ^ | 16 Oct 2015 | John Sifton

There are lots of reasons why President Barack Obama is meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo today in Washington. Indonesia doesn't often get the attention it deserves, but it is a key country with major links to the United States. It's in the G7, and millions of its citizens or former citizens live in the US.

Most important, Indonesia is the fourth most populated country in the world, with a Muslim population that outstrips all other countries in the Middle East and North Africa in size. Because it has a democratic system of governance, President Obama and other US officials have often spoken of it as a "model" for a tolerant Muslim majority country--it's a point made so often it's become cliché.

The problem is, the cliché is a fiction.

The truth is that Indonesia's legal system is infested with discriminatory laws restricting the rights of religious minorities and women. There are, for instance, laws prohibiting women from straddling motorcycles or wearing pants, and regulations on the length and type of skirts and headscarves they must wear. Churches and other non-Sunni faiths face discriminatory legal provisions.

Obviously due to racism.

Question: Can you see a way for Obama to set up a new "refugee" crisis in order to ship in millions of Muslims to the US?

I have posted for many months that Obama will do a Saddam-like “scortched earth” program 6 to 8 months before he leaves office. He will flood the country with hispanics and Muslims, (many of same terrorists). If Ryan gets in as speaker, Obama is guaranteed silence from the GOP.

Why Is Obama's Meeting with Indonesian President Important?

He MUST have those childhood records in Indonesia sealed, as he has had those in the U.S.!

laws prohibiting women from straddling motorcycles or wearing pants

Uh oh. Good thing I read this now before heading out to work or the policeman at the intersection at the end of the street may mean trouble for me.

Was that law passed last night while I slept?

That would explain all the cuts and bruises I have. Thanks. I was wondering about that.

Ride you bike around Jakarta often do you?

Did you know about this, since it seems to be closer to your region of Indonesia: Christians In Indonesia, Tired Of Persecution, Attack Mosque During Ramadan And Burn Down The Mosque

As is the norm in these stories, it's always the Christians fault. Why are you Christians such troublemakers? :-)

I ride my bike through Papua and in Bali. Like all cities, I try my best to avoid Jakarta. But, I have never, ever, had any problems when I’ve gone there. I have yet to visit Aceh. I may never do so.

I do realize we are persecuted here. I wish things would change. I am working to bring about that change.

God bless you and yours' for your courage and devotion to spreading the Gospel and for helping the needy in that area of the world. I recently watched a documentary about a group of surfers who discovered the area you are in. One in particular went back to help the locals who were being displaced by developers and their cronies in the Indonesian government. Many locals were murdered/disappeard.

Stay safe! Careful what you transmit over the net. Look at using something like Tor or a VPN link to a proxy.

Thanks for you input. Will include you in my nightly prayers. ;-)
