I supported Kemp over Reagan in the Republican primary, back in 1979. In my defense I was into his idea of "enterprise zones," as I was a big Friedmanite. And believe it or not, I did have a girlfriend.

Anyway, I'm glad Reagan won. That was the last time I was excited about voting for the R nominee.

It was all downhill for Jack Kemp after that. By 1994 he was championing illegal immigrants and fighting Californians who were trying to pass Prop 187.

Jack Kemp morphed into Jeb Bush.
