Been to Yellowstone about five times in the last 10-12 years. Have yet to see one stinking bear.

And here I thought it was just me having that kind of experience. My wife and I spent 7 days in the Grand Teton & Yelllowstone area in 2009, RV camping in GT. The fellow in the space next to us said a black bear marched right between our spaces at lunch one day but we were out in the park or Jackson WY.

On our numerous trips out west, the wife and I have only seen wild bears one time. That was about four years ago when we were crossing the Rockies from Alberta into B.C. We saw a mother bear and her cubs by the side of the road, and a little while later down the road we saw a solitary bear. They all looked like grizzlies.

Seeing those bears made think it would probably not be a good idea to walk across the Rockies in Canada.
