Unfortunately, while this should be meaningless, it isn’t. In the general election the MSM will take something trivial like this and have it dominate the news cycle for days. Ted Cruz is too clever to make these Aikenesque statements, and Donald Trump is too strong to let the media make anything of them.

And there’s a bunch of these. Some here may agree with the points (just like most hold views which are deemed preposterous to others), but need to recognize that a whole lotta needed voters will be rapidly turned off should any of them not be brief in their appearance. There’s “I think teaching gun safety hands-on in public school is a good idea” (sensible to many, though anathema to others’ political goals), and then there’s “I think the Pyramids were for grain storage” (objectively preposterous, an unnecessary admission, and makes one concerned about mental instability).

One key rule of public relations: don’t answer contentious questions that weren’t being asked. Makes people wonder why you’re bringing up or fending off something nobody cared about.

Recalls a gas station ad I’ve seen: Local indian reservation gas station runs a TV ad, ending with “There’s no water in our gas!” ...wait, WHAT? WTF would you feel compelled to make such a declaration?

“Ted Cruz is too clever to make these Aikenesque statements . . .”

Dig back far enough into his speech history and see what comes up. Carson’s theory is far from preposterous and has absolutely no bearing on the office to which he aspires. To think great pyramid theories make or break a presidential candidate places you into the “low information voter” camp as far as I’m concerned - the kind that think they are smarter than everyone else. You’ve got the great pyramids nailed, eh? There when they were built?
