Earth Is An Oil-Producing Machine — We're Not Running Out
Investor’s Business Daily ^ | 11/04/2015 | KERRY JACKSON

Posted on 11/06/2015 6:52:01 AM PST by Jim W N

Engineering and Technology Magazine reported this week that BP — the company that once wanted to be known as "Beyond Petroleum" rather than "British Petroleum" — is saying "the world is no longer at risk of running out of resources."

"[A]ccessible oil and gas reserves will almost double by 2050," Engineering and Technology said.

A BP official told the magazine that "energy resources are plentiful. Concerns over running out of oil and gas have disappeared."

Things are so good, in fact, that Engineering and Technology says "with the use of the innovative technologies, available fossil fuel resources could increase from the current 2.9 trillion barrels of oil equivalent to 4.8 trillion by 2050, which is almost twice as much as the projected global demand." That number could even reach 7.5 trillion barrels if technology and exploration techniques advance even faster.

This information backs up the idea that Earth is actually an oil-producing machine. We call energy sources such as crude oil and natural gas fossil fuels based on the assumption that they are the products of decaying organisms, maybe even dinosaurs themselves. But the label is a misnomer. Research from the last decade found that hydrocarbons are synthesized abiotically.

In other words, as Science magazine has reported, the "data imply that hydrocarbons are produced chemically" from carbon found in Earth's mantle. Nature magazine calls the product of this process an "unexpected bounty " of "natural gas and the building blocks of oil products."

So don't feel guilty about exploiting this "bounty." There seems to be plenty to go around — and there will probably still be a lot left when technology, not hurried by government mandates and subsidies but guided by market forces, produces practical and affordable renewable energy.

But for now, enjoy our cheap, abundant and efficient "fossil" fuels.

"Sustainability" is a myth.

God made the earth abundantly and inexhaustibly rich and wealthy for man's use and blessing to last way beyond our time horizon. We haven't even begun to tap into earth's vast resources.

Reality check: man's efforts to find oil and natural gas is about 100 years old in an earth that is millions of years old and could contain earth's entire population in the state of Texas. Duh!

"Sustainability" is an argument not based on truth but preys on fear and guilt and used to promote sweeping government intervention into everyone's private lives.

But no matter. The truth never stopped the Left.

Those who want global totalitarianism will argue (and currently argue) that "we can no longer afford freedom becasue our limited food and natural resources cannot be 'sustained' with government intervention." It is an argument against individual freedom and happiness and for government oppression and misery.

The "sustainability" myth is being taught now as entire courses in college and it is the main justification for the U.N.'s current "Agenda 21" (for "21st Century") which proposes sweeping governmental powers and changes in how we live. This all softens up the world for coming world dictatorships. Soon, "but not yet." We have a few decades to go before it all comes down, IMO.

I have been talking about this theory (abiotic source of hyrdrocarbons) since the 80’s.

When I encounter doubters, I ask them do they think dead dinosaurs are responsible for the gas giants (jupiter, saturn) and other hyrdrocarbons in our solar system.

I then tell them, why would earth be any different — that the internal heat of the planet acts as one big fractionating tower

Jim Quinn of Pittsburgh's now off-the-air conservative radio show said this many times.

He was right!

As long as they leave enough oil down there for the shifting of the tectonic plates to work properly. I believe that oil is in the earth for good reason put thre by the Creator. From what I’ve seen I do believe its possible to cause manmade eaerhquakes by taking too much of that lubricant too fast out in certain locations. No Im not advocating regulation but a little oversight (not gor profit) due to the aforementioned which they already do anyway.

I've never seen an estimate of how many dinosaurs it would have taken to create the trillions of gallons of crude oil in the planet. I always thought the dinosaur origin was a little weird.

I remember reading about some guy name Gold who arrived at the "abiotic" theory some twenty or thirty years ago. Naturally, at the time he was scorned. Imagine how many people are going to have to eat crow if the abiotic theory turns out to be correct.

Those other planets are insufficient oxygen atmospheres. In those locations Hydrogen and Carbon form into their lowest energy state molecules of methane, ethane and the like depending on elemental ratios.

Those simple hydrocarbons are not the same as the complex asphaltenes, paraffins, naphthenes, and aromatics found in crude oil.

Earth Is An Oil-Producing Machine — We're Not Running Out

I've been saying this for more than a decade. The A-biotic theory of oil is correct. It is created by the vast reserves of carbon and hydrogen in the earth, with the hydrocarbon chains strung together by heat and pressure.

“From what I’ve seen I do believe its possible to cause manmade eaerhquakes by taking too much of that lubricant too fast out in certain locations. “

Ridiculous. The Earth is too big for us to influence it like that. Makes us way too important sounding.

Example? Try looking into Project Rulison or Gas Buggy. These were attempts to fracture formations to get more gas out of tight formations.

To do so, the US detonated an atomic bomb in the earth.

Result? the earth absorbed the blast and there was minimal effect just a few hundred yards away.

So no way some slippery fault plane is going to be influenced by a hydraulically-stimulated fracture.

Those of us who thought so when the Jimmie Carter, the Demos, and the Enviro - Wackos first started screeching out that we’re running out of oil are not the crazy ones that they called us.

I have been saying this forever....I have no degree in chemistry or any other scientific field but common sense would tell anyone with a brain that the cyclical nature of our world would bring you to the simple conclusion of the carbon that settles into the ground or sea bed or ponds etc...is constant piled onto year after year and is forced to the mantle/core where between heat and pressure you get oil/gas/coal/diamonds and the gas will seek cracks to escape and oil will find voids in which to pool....the same way old “dead” wells come back to life....drill baby drill....drown the middle east in cheap oil.

I agree when they found planets with oceans of methane, I thought how could that be dinosaurs and plant decay.
