Arizona is the third-best market for California disinvestment, according to a seven-year Spectrum Location Solutions study of companies leaving the state. Texas, Nevada and Arizona are in the top three slots, following by Colorado, Washington, Oregon and North Carolina.
Report author Joseph Vranich, a site selection consultant, confirmed that more than $68 billion in capital has been diverted to other states as a result of the more than 1,500 disinvestment actions â the act of a company pulling up stakes and relocating.
âCompanies moving to other states save 25 percent to 35 percent of operating costs compared to California costs,â Vranich said.
The report said that Los Angeles County hemorrhaged the most companies, followed by Orange (Anaheim and Irvine), Santa Clara (Silicon Valley), San Francisco and San Diego counties. Using collected data, Vranich said that using accepted statistical models, it can be projected that as many as 9,000 companies closed up shop moving elsewhere, and were not publicly reported.
The report also said that a number of foreign nations gained from California losses, with the most jobs going to Mexico, India and China.
âAs Californiaâs business climate worsens, chances are that more companies will seek places that are friendlier to business interests,â Vranich said.

We “Zonies” don’t mind Californians here as long as they leave their idiotic politics in Kaliforistan

“Mine just did-âor will as of May 2016”
Mine in 2010, to Marion Ky. No way I was transferring there especially with the Wife pulling down good coin in So. Cal. So its been a small home business since then as 50 year old none Spanish speaking gringo Supervisors aren’t needed in what is left of the manufacturing base still left in Kalifornia.
Let La Raza have Californicatia. Its soon to slip under the sea anyway.
This has been true since the 70’s when furniture stores moved their warehouses to AZ to avoid CA inventory tax.
Interesting, Phx does have a huge warehouse corridor, massive buildings.
like your tag line!
We need to build that wall on the southern border, but we also need to build one where the 10 crosses the state line at Blythe.
Rockin’ the Wall Studios. Currently, our little office is in “Crossroads of the World” suite. If you saw “Argo,” it’s where the CIA had its fake movie HQ.
And a wall at Topock on H-40 ... and/or blow the bridge there
Good story, now if we could just figure out how to get Yosemite National Park to leave California....
