Doesn’t sound like enabling. Maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to judge.

That was the last straw. Up until then she had been taken care of by her parents. Her parents bought her dozens of phones. When she came back they gave her a studio apartment and bought her a house. When the house they bought for her was not large enough to accommodate her and her friends her parents agreed to buy her another one. She took off again and when she came back her parents put her and her boyfriend in an apartment, which the couple trashed. They paid for a lawyer to get her charges reduced.

All that sounds like enabling to me.
