WASHINGTON -- Democratic Senate leaders are vowing to block the House bill that would stop Syrian refugees from entering the country until a strict, multi-agency vetting process is in place.
The bill passed the House by a 289-137 vote yesterday, with 47 Democrats voting in favor of the legislation -- including Bay State U.S. Reps. William B. Keating and Stephen F. Lynch, who said the additional screening by the chief National Intelligence Agency was a key point in leading to his support.
President Obama had vowed to veto it, but with a veto-proof majority vote, Democratic efforts to stop the bill now rest with the Senate.
"Don't worry. It won't get passed," vowed Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.
The bill would require the Department of Homeland Security, FBI and director of National Intelligence to certify that no one seeking asylum from Syria poses a national security threat. Though he broke with his party's leadership, Lynch said he believes having the multi-level screening procedures will actually aid the White House’s goal of taking in 10,000 Syrian refugees.
"I think the quality of the screening will be much better knowing somebody is going to check your work," Lynch told the Herald. "I think that’s human nature."

Even if both houses of Congress pass the bill and then both override a veto, BHO will simply order that it not be enforced. This is how it works in a tyranny. BHO needs to go.

What are the odds that Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell will let any legislation pass (or even get voted on) that curbs the current invasion?

How the hell can one man, who is NOT even in the Majority Party have so much power?

THE DEMOCRATS WANT THE VOTES FROM THE REFUGEES .. BECAUSE THE DEMOCRATS ARE NOT GETTING TO USE THE PEOPLE FROM MEXICO ANYMORE .. AS MORE AND MORE OF THEM ARE LEAVING THE USA - BECAUSE OF NO WORK.
Because the majority gives it to him. Reid says he'll fight something and McConnell and the RINOs immediately cave. Of course, when Cruz, Lee or Paul say they'll fight something, McConnell and the RINOs make them go to the floor and actually do it, but they'll never do the same to Reid.
Go harry go! And the MSM tells you the Republicans are the obstructionists.
