The Clinton administration plowed up and surfaced over the location where Kennewick Man was discovered to placate some Indians. Stone Mountain could easily get a face lift to placate other “marginalized” whiners. I see little hope for this decadent nation.
Actually, it may have been the Bush administration that did the deed.
It seems this is a State monument, out of reach of the Feds.
It needs to be removed immediately! I might end up glancing at it and suddenly turn into a racist!
So the Fed tells Georgia either SM goes or some federal funding, such as highway or education, goes. Atlanta will crumble.
Messing with Stone Mountain risks re igniting the Civil War.
And Georgia just authorized messing with it, starting with putting an MLK tribute on top in a spirit of conquest.
Well, Washington and Jefferson, both being slaveholders will have to go. Lincoln and TR were Republicans, so they may have to go as well. Rather than blowing up the whole thing, it might be easier to modify the features of the existing carvings to people more acceptable to “modern” tastes. Think of it as a shovel (or pickaxe)-ready project.

Defiance? Resilience? To some people, oppression and conquest?
It might be nice to think that it was apolitical and unifying and reconciling, but was it really any of that?
No. Not with 2 slave holders a recently described as racist freer of the slaves and a man who stole Panama from the poor Hispanic Columbians
It is a symbol of sons and daughters of the confederacy. Leave it be and put up your Marxist leader monument in Cuba or China
No difference between this and Islam / Isis destroying other statues, churches, monuments, .... It’s all based on the same principle of erasing history of struggles against oppression or struggles for freedom or freedom of religion. BLM and the modern US black leaders are all about misdirection against freedom and liberty. Violent and unforgiving resistance is the only solution or response.

They can erase the three horsemen on Stone Mountain.
Most of history can be erased.
