Remember Barry Goldwater? He lost 44 states
Alas for Cruz fans, the senator’s story about a Republican voter strike in 2012 does not add up. Turnout fell among lots of groups in 2012, some of them Obama-friendly. Moreover, turnout actually rose in some of the most closely-fought states. Voting rates also remained pretty healthy among white Protestant evangelicals, who made up one in four of all voters according to exit polls, though they account for only 19% of the population. Conservative Cruz fans may not care, for now. His fable about how elections are won flatters them, after all. As Mr Cruz beamed in Des Moines: “The men and women in this room scare the living daylights out of Washington.” But it is a fable: no Republican has won the White House without hefty moderate support. Mr Cruz is a clever and eloquent man. All the more reason to beware him.
actually, i’m that old. I do.
Who is your favorite candidate and why?
“But it is a fable: no Republican has won the White House without hefty moderate support.”
The moderates support the Dems, have supported the Dems for several decades now, and will continue to support the Dems for the foreseeable future.
We’ve tried nominating “moderate Republicans” to get their votes, so we already know that is a failing strategy. It’s time to try something else.
Source to back up your statistics?
Because the published statistic show your claims to be, at best, off by about 4 million missing GOP voters.

Stonewall is ashamed of such horsehockey and tired of rolling over in his grave.
I like Ted Cruz but having now observed him over a period of time I don’t think he’s ready for the Whitehouse. And I think he would have a real hard time winning the general election because as you say he is just too conservative for moderate voters.
The Average GOP and Independent voter is middle of the road to slightly right of center. A much better fit for Trump. Trump will also peel off the Reagan Democrats.
Remember Reagan? Peddle your moderation faggotry somewhere else.

While Goldwater was the harbinger, warning of an increasing intruding government. Government was still workable and bipartisanship a reasonable quest. But times have changed
Maybe you were not around when that happened but I was.
Even then as LBJ began his Great Society programs and began to blow up in our faces. Bumper stickers began to appear reading; Dont Blame Me I Voted For Goldwater . Which btw I did.
Today under the same name political party used by todays socialists. Who are now controlling the God denying in name only democratic party. (Also in many states they dropped their Jackson dinner fund raisers.) We have an in your face; bedroom, kitchen, church, school, back yard, gas tank, and electric lines, government.Creating regulations that raised the costs on vehicles which require a rocket scientists to work on.Even manipulating innocent children by promoting programs creating confusion as to wonder if they are what they are born with.
Todays GOPES (goverment over the people elite statists) are still in the last century and unable to cope with reality and if they continue will cease to exist.
