President Vladimir Putin is actively misinforming his domestic audience and the international community about Russiaâs first military intervention outside the former Soviet Union since its 1979 invasion of Afghanistan.
Putin has created a false narrative about the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) to disguise the true objectives behind Russiaâs intervention Syria and is using this narrative to manipulate the international community.
Putin encapsulated this false narrative in his UN speech calling for an alternate international coalition against ISIS on September 28, two days before the start of Russiaâs air campaign in Syria.
Russia intervened in Syria on September 30 not to defeat ISIS, but rather to curb US influence in the Middle East and to project Russian military power into the region to a historically unprecedented degree.

So wait... both Obama and Putin are supporting ISIS?
HUH, Putin is bombing those who wish to kill us while Turkey and Obama protects ISIS.
Putin is doing the job obama won’t do
Putin lies.
But thankfully the entire world has Barack Obama to keep us informed of the truth.
/s
Hang on . Putin is looking to take over power from us there.
Er Syria and Russia have decades of a relationship and Syria have asked Russia to come in their country and help them while we have not been invited there, have decided to go into a sovereign country and now for the last year have protected ISIS
Regardless of Putin’s goals, he is bombing ISIS and pissing off Obama. How can that be a bad thing?
Hard to argue that Russia is the huge threat to world peace when the first sentence says this is their first military action outside the former ussr since 1979.
But Russia is having to defeat ISIS to curb US influence in the Middle East.
And that says it all, sad but true.
This is all wild speculation. It’s way too early to tell if Russia will have any effect on the political outcome at all, let alone a desireable one. Let us remember that the Russians are the same bunch of people who failed to defeat a nation of pot farmers back in the 1980’s. Maybe they’ll do better this time but I wouldn’t take it for granted.
What actual proof do we have of that?
We have the global and U. S. media that spin anti U. S. 24/7/365.
Of course they like Putin in Syria. It provides push-back against the U. S.
Media organizations around the world that hated the U. S. before Obama, now have him to hate as well. It’s a perfect storm against the U. S.
I still consider Putin to be gaming everyone as he bombs the anti-Assad resistance in Syria, while essentially leaving ISIS alone. Every strike is described as a hit on ISIS, but not one of them is described as a hit on the resistance (for lack of a better term), and I submit that should tell us something.
If he never addresses hitting the resistance, we know he’s lying. I think he has used propaganda effectively, and with our team of amateurs in there, who’s to call him on it?
Obama is such a nimrod that when he does make overtures in that direction, nobody listens, and with good reason. Can’t trust that pecker-head anymore than Putin.
For the record, I’m not fan of the resistance in Syria. It was another group that suckered McCain et al. It started it’s antics at the same time the Muslim Brotherhood was stiring things up in the region. So it is made up of Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda members. These are no friends of ours.
Its not wise to put too much trust in a former KGB officer. Russia is out for Russia, always has been, always will be.
Putin was in Iran last week presenting an ancient handwritten copy of the Koran to Grand Ayatollah Khamanei and agreeing to sell enriched uranium to Iran for their nuclear program.

Some people seem to think Putin is an idealist and an anti-dote to Obama. But in reality, he and Obama are both out to harm America.
Imagine that, a world leader using a false narrative to pursue goals different from what is claimed. It makes me want to wrap up in the warm blanket of global warming, and pretend the world is safe in the narrative of good intentions. Whatever screws up Obama’s false narrative is good for us. Let Putin kill ISIS and Obama’s dreams.
Except it isn’t. There was the S. Ossetia/Georgia conflict in 2008, Crimea over the past couple years, and the further incursions into Ukraine.
Skipped geography classes, we take it.
You really didn’t know those were all part of the soviet union?
Putin is bombing only the groups that threaten Assad. That’s his onyl reason for doing it. And he is doing it at the behest of Iran. You and Obama think Iran is an ally of the U.S.?
Israel is not pleased with Putin’s friendship with the number one nation threatening to remove Israel from the face of the earth:
“In Tehran, Putin ends ban on Iran nuclear cooperation”
Russian firms now free to help modify centrifuges at Fordo enrichment site, assist in redesign of Arak heavy water reactor

The biggest myth is being perpetrated by guys like this, that Putin isn’t fighting ISIS. In three days the Russians dropped more bombs on ISIS than the US has in a year. These guys continue to pretend there is a contradiction between fighting ISIS and propping up Assad. There is none. The only contradiction is in claiming to fight ISIS while simultaneously trying to overthrow the Syrian government that ISIS is trying to overthrow. That makes no sense at all. Yet I still hear supposed “experts” claim just that.
