Tebow-Culpo Love Story Debunked

RUSH: Two stories yesterday, one that Tim Tebow and his girlfriend Olivia Culpo had broken up because he refused to have sex. You didn't see that story? Snerdley didn't see that story. Brian is a sports nut, saw the story. Yeah, this is Wednesday. So that story ran on Monday. It was in Us Weekly. The headline: "Tim Tebow, Olivia Culpo Split Because of His Virginity Vow." And here's how Us Weekly did the story.

"Later, Gator. NFL player Tim Tebow and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo have apparently split -- and it's reportedly due to his virginity vow. Us Weekly exclusively revealed last month that the beauty queen, 23, and quarterback, 28, were dating after being set up by a mutual friend." A source told Us Weekly, whatever it is, US or Us Weekly? I don't care, doesn't matter. Told the magazine, "'Tim's super into her.' ... According to the New York Daily News, which first reported the news on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, the reason for the breakup was due to a lack of... well, sex."

Tebow was really into her, but he would not compromise his Christian principles and values and engage in premarital sex. "He was sending her love letters and cute notes and professing his love for her. She had to break up with him because she just couldn't handle it." She couldn't handle the celibacy. "He still hits her up, but she just can't deal with the sex thing. He's pretty adamant about it."

Well, there is only one thing wrong with this. It isn't true. None of it is true. It apparently is all bogus. Fox News: "Tim Tebow, Former Miss USA Olivia Culpo, Never Dated." So they couldn't break up. They never dated. Actually it's a TMZ sports report. TMZ's gone out there, they have talked to everybody involved, and they found that Tim Tebow and Olivia Culpo never dated, not once. They never had sex. Well, obviously they didn't have sex because that is why they broke up, except they weren't together to break up. They didn't have sex, exactly right. They attend the same church. They are sometimes seen together in a group and will go out after church, but the question you have to ask, who would make this up and why?

Because, by the way, the Drive-By news stories about all this were just filled with laughter, mocking Tebow, mocking his values, mocking his attitudes, mocking his Christianity. I mean just openly laughing at the guy and implying that he's a kook and a nerd and a weirdo and what kind of oddball, particularly an athlete, lives this way in the United States in 2015. It was all made up. All of it. Now, who would do that, and why? It first appears in Us Weekly. (interruption) Well, you think ISIS made it up? (laughing) No. Obviously an anti-Christian zealot, but that encompasses a lot. That could be all of the sports Drive-Bys. I mean, somebody had to make this up, and they had to have a reason to make it up, and just out of whole cloth.

Of course liberals are all over the internet just waiting for him to come out as gay. They insist he is. I can’t believe how nasty they are. They are supposedly inclusive of everyone except a guy who is saving himself for marriage.

Anybody anywhere anymore who says that Tebow’s not playing in the NFL because he’s not pro QB material is a lying @-hole. Tebow’s not playing because he’s a traditional Christian. Bradford, Sanchez, Johnny Clipboard, McKown — Tebow could step in to Philly or Cleveland, replace those washouts, and help either team win with his desire, leadership, and yes, talent.

Oh, and Miss Culpo is hot, hot, hot! “Relt-knee!, relt-knee!”

What damage was done to his reputation? That he’s chosen to remain a virgin until marriage? Or that he was supposedly dating a pretty woman? None of that sounds particularly defamatory.

Another professional athlete who was a well-known self-proclaimed Christian virgin was A.C. Green of the LA Lakers. "During his playing days, his teammates would frequently send women to tempt him to compromise his morals. Green would respond by calmly quoting scripture."

He finally married after he retired, when he was 38. Whether his all-time consecutive-games-played record of 1,192 resulted partly from getting a good night's sleep is speculative. Still: "Green suffered from singultus, or chronic hiccups, during his NBA career, the hiccups only stopping when Green was running or working out. Reportedly, Green never slept more than two hours at a time due to the condition. He has since recovered."

The damage, in their eyes, is the woman didn't look like this...

Relt-knee!

Wow — I haven’t heard that term used in decades. It’s certainly applicable. :=)

I don’t think you’ve seen all the libelous remarks made about this issue. I’d suggest doing some searches and reading some links before making such an ignorant remark.

He finally married after he retired, when he was 38.

It may be a coincidence but throughout history most personal greats occur *before* a woman enters the picture.

Then please enlighten me. What exactly did they say that could be considered under the law to be defamatory to his reputation? Not every false statement is grounds for a libel/slander action.

He is a celebrity. But she is not. I wonder if she could sue them for libel?

So that story ran on Monday. It was in Us Weekly ...

See, one should never believe celebrity gossip until it runs in People.
