Doesnât the Navy design any redundancy into itâs ships anymore? I'd think that would be a prime consideration in combat survivability. The old DLG and DDG that I served on had four boilers in two separate boiler rooms. There were turbines in two separate engine rooms. We could still be underway (though not very well) on just one boiler and one turbine.
