CHICAGO (AP) — The latest on developments surrounding a federal civil rights investigation of the Chicago Police Department (all times local):

8:45 p.m.

A grand jury has indicted a white Chicago police officer charged in the shooting death of black teenager Laquan McDonald.

According to a copy of the indictment posted Wednesday on the Chicago Tribune's website (http://trib.in/1T2Batl ), Officer Jason Van Dyke was indicted Tuesday on six counts of first-degree murder and one count of official misconduct.

The indictment alleges Van Dyke shot the 17-year-old knowing it "created a strong probability of death or great bodily harm."

Van Dyke attorney Daniel Herbert did not return a phone call Wednesday night from The Associated Press.

Prosecutors initially charged Van Dyke with one count of murder hours before video of the October 2014 shooting was made public.

McDonald was walking down a street and carrying a knife with a 3-inch blade when he was shot 16 times.

By that example, Hitlery would be indicted on 200,000,000 million counts of violations over the e mail debacle.

Kudos to EMS for bringing this guy back to life five times before the officer killed him for the sixth time. :)

Never been on jury duty. Got called for the WHOLE MONTH of Jan. I will tell you this: no jury I’m on is going to indict anyone multiple times for a single such act.

When police use lethal force, the necessity and reasonableness are measured for each bullet fired. Not sure how that gets six murder counts.

He’s not only merely dead, he’s really most sincerely dead.

I thought that was the point of arming police? Bringing this charge against an officer using his sidearm in the performance of his duties is like handing a new taxi driver a set of keys and immediately charging them with wreckless driving.

“He shot with the knowledge that there was a strong probability of death or great bodily harm.”

Well, I doubt he shot this thug hoping it would cure his acne.

Once again the media is quick to use race in articles when white kills black, virtually never when the races are reversed.

Sounds like the prosecuting attorney has set a bar for themselves which they can never meet.

Exact same thing the prosecuting attorneys did in 1991 when they over charged the LA police with the beating of R King and the video actually proved the defense to the charges.

Sounds like someone is planning on race riots just like 1992.

Save the City/State a WHOLE bunch of $$ by disbanding the local police and let them police themselves. Let’s give THAT a chance for a while, eh?
