Beretta USA says Maryland's tough new gun laws are the reason it's moving its factory to gun-friendly Tennessee.
The American subsidiary of the 500-year-old Italian company has had a factory in Accokeek, Maryland since the 1970s. The company has manufactured the M9, the U.S. Army's standard-issue sidearm, since 1987 at that factory, which is about 20 miles south of Washington, D.C.

Beretta's move south started when the company's patriarch, Ugo Gussalli Beretta, asked Reh to identify "the most consistently pro-Second Amendment states in the country."
No wonder Beretta has been around since 1526.
Good.
I am of the opinion that any gun manufacture that remains in a state that penalizes gun ownership is ASKING for trouble.
Well, I think in CW 1, the north had all the production of guns. Glad to see the move to the south by various manufacturers.
Now the others need to follow suit. Get out of the northeast.
Ls
All major manufacturing moved to the South, and now smaller manufacturers are also.
Seems like the demand for guns would be higher in MD...but probably not for legitimately owned guns.
Good advice for gun manufacturers; good advice for anyone.
Do you know that store employees say 'Merry Christmas' to all their customers here in East Tennessee??? Come on down; there's still a few spaces available.
Mr. Beretta is taking the long-term view for the future of his company. With this style of management you can see why they are the world’s oldest gun maker.
Luv Eastern TN. (This is from a Yankee)
Guess it’s time to buy a Beretta as I’ve never owned one......I do know they are great guns.......
Shhhh
The South Shall Rise Again; Play DIXE LOUDLY!
Conservatives only, of course.
Stay away if you want to bring your “values” with you.
Some guy down at the Waffle House is going to call a Yankee babe, “Hon,” and we’re gonna have a harassment lawsuit. Watch for it.
Right to Work may have been a factor in the final decision.
It’s a shame they have to move. I’ve been in the plant at Accokeek. Nice location.
I have never understood these people. It gave me such a feeling of well-being and cared-for-ness and security growing up that all the old men said “honey” and “sweetheart” and such to us young girls. They weren’t the least bit pervy, it was like having hundreds of uncles and grandpas.
But yet these same people have no problem with women being called b*tch” all over the place. No one would have ever called us that name and walked away in one piece.
Well at least they aren’t moving out of the United States like most of them have....
Moving around the United States is still making jobs for Americans, its when they move out of America that hurts our economy so terribly bad...
I live nearby ... wondering if they will be letting out ‘seconds’ to the local wholesaler, Widener’s?
