I think you’re kidding yourself on the “alleged” bit. - and there is evidence Putin killed those journalists where? That’s like people stating that football star who joined the military was killed by Bush because he was anti-war. That is BS also and had the same lines of non-evidence.

Alleged is a fair term, not guilty until proved so.

During going from a communism economy to a democracy there were many rival factions at odds with each other. Something like that would be hard to control, even by Putin during the early stages.

Also, I think their rules of engagement were sterner in scope than ours. Ask yourself how many whistle blowers and traitors we got rid of, the latest being Snowden?
