He does. Having said that I think you have to be careful when debating not to give your opponent a good stick to hit you have the head with.
Here’s a Black woman sitting there and Kurt brought up the Civil War as a good reason for people to have weapons to defend their way of life. Whoopie could rightfully have said, waiiiit a minute. Their way of life impacted my ancestors very negatively. That would have been a legitimate rejoinder.
While Kurt’s inclusion of the Civil War was a decent argument academically, a lot of folks will hear that and say that’s exactly why we shouldn’t have gun rights.
IMO < it would have been better to keep it on terrorism, which everyone understands. Bring up the founders and then remind folks we should have a right to be able to defend ourselves against terrorist.
Kurt is obviously pro second amendment and I respect that and him a great deal on that point.
Better to have referred to the American Revolution, which was the war that changed the colonial militias that fought the French and Indian War into the Constitutional institution of the People in arms and made it the backbone of the American defense establishment until World War I.
