How do you clean a weapon with a round in the chamber?
That's why he thought he'd dry fire it... to check? Only it weren't dry.
By being a weak closed minded fool of an idiot.
A person whose path in life went into a swamp.
My bet is he was playing with the weapon and after shooting himself resorted to the old “I was cleaning it” excuse.
I always interpret this to mean he was screwing around, accidentally pulled the trigger while drawing it out of the holster, etc.
The act of ‘cleaning’ usually starts with disassembly (after clearing it of course). So unless all these guys are ‘cleaning’ the outside of the gun, its just a term that means “I screwed up but don’t want to admit it”.
Another possibility is he dropped the magazine and left a round in the chamber. I was in the military, and I can attest that some people, whose experience with pistols is limited to the qualifying range where you fire until the slide locks back, do not fully comprehend the concept of a round in the chamber.
Step one, remove the round from the chamber.
Most people remove the entire cartridge in a single step.
Some choose to first remove the bullet, then the casing in two steps.
Exactly! It can’t be done.
To bad he wasn’t looking down the barrel... thin the herd so to speak.
