Many on the Right (including many FReepers) see the Left as a front for the old Eastern Seaboard Federalist elite and their aristocratic fellows in other countries. Then there is the theory that it is a plot of l'ancien regime to destroy the bourgeoisie and reinstall itself under a new name (Metternich actually invoked socialism as an answer to the new bourgeois economic freedom).
