I think this would be a counter productive turn off for anyone in Iowa.
Just like the Reagan Democrats I believe there is a much larger contingent of Trump Democrats.

Tens of millions of people want to see Hillary reduced to road kill that I think for that alone Trump will be the nominee. Can you imagine the first debate between the 2? 100 million will be watching and it won’t be for Hillary.
The last dem debate had 5 million watching.

There was a recent poll showing Trump only 4% above Cruz, 28-24. One of the questions leading up to the “who will you vote for” was “Do you think Trump is an embarrassment to the Republican party?”
It’s called push-polling, of course. And it worked. I think Trump is doing slight better than his poll averages indicate.
I also think people pay way too much attention the meaningless (at this point) national polls and not enough to the state polls, which show some very different results from the nationals.

Someone else came up with the Wilder Effect way back when. Rush was among those who promulgated it, I don’t recall which election, but probably early 90s, to explain why Republicans tend to get more votes in the general than pollsters expect.
Well this certainly is silliness writ large. No part of this dribble makes any logical or rational sense.
The Wilder effect was a subsequent naming of the Bradldy Effect from back in
the 1982 California Governor race. There have been several subsequent races
citing the ‘effect’ over the years.
