Rubio: 1 in 10, Jeb: 1 in 1000
Exited this world from a sudden heart attack while boinking his mistress in a Manhattan Hotel Suite.
Even a dead cat bounces a little bit.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Jeff. Hope this finds you and yours well. The idea that JEB is coming back is nonsense. Not enough voters like him. And no enthusiasm for him due to his positions on the salient issues of our time. He should give the campaign money back to his donors and drop out.
You wrote: A drop from 4% to 3% is not exactly a plummet.
Yes, it is, that is a 25% drop, that is pretty significant.
May be the first time in American history that a presidential candidate is banking on an “aha moment” gripping the entire electorate.
That’s kickback kid.
Jeb, the nice kid.
Translation: WTF man!! We in the MSM had the designated GOPe loser picked and ready to go. We had Lil Johnny McCain and the RINO corps on board as well as the Rovetrain rolling. What’s wrong with you people, Jeb! IS THE MAN!! Trust us, we have your best interests at heart.
(I’ll have some fun with their attempt at CPR)
“Jeb’s dead.” Correct...should have ended here.
“We haven’t even gotten to Bush’s heresies on immigration and education policy - that’s how secure his rivals and the media are in the knowledge that he is defeated.”
That is right...actually.
“And so we just wait for the Republican establishment to coalesce around some other acceptable presidential candidate.”
What they miss here is the corollary, which is that they also need the conservative candidates to SELF-DESTRUCT in some way. That hasn’t (yet) happened with Trump or Cruz.
“Marco Rubio is just not catching fire in national polls or in Iowa and New Hampshire specifically.”
Immigration is the Number One issue and Rubio is a TOTAL TRAITOR on this one issue - sorry, this is simply not going to be his year.
“...that Rubio is acceptable to the Republican establishment and to many movement conservatives.”
Nope, not with his AMNESTY baggage. Sorry,.
“He provides a young, Latino, telegenic, forward-looking contrast to Hillary Clinton. He even hails from Florida! And yet, he’s stuck at 10 to 12 percent, everywhere.”
Yep, and there’s NO WAY any more Republicans will get near him. He’s radioactive. His only hope is VP and I doubt Trump or Cruz will want anything to do with him.
“If you were wagering on the Republican race, Jeb Bush is the best “value bet.” Everyone thinks he’s toast. But he still has a real shot.”
He might be a shot if he had something to offer...we’re still waiting on that part. But I’ll keep reading.
“Jeb has the resources and the reach within the party apparatus to grind out a race with Trump.”
The more he spends, the less support he gets. He has the same problem as Hillary, the more people know them, the less popular they become.
“But comeback stories are just as compelling as end-to-end runs of dominance.”
But comebacks are NOT POSSIBLE if the leader is winning BASED ON THE MERIT of his campaign, in other words, if the leader is ONLY CANDIDATE leading on the key issue(s), then a comeback is simply not possible. This year it is clearly IMMIGRATION. If Bush were able to credibly be for border security (don’t laugh), but Trump were winning only because he’s a celebrity, then Bush might have been poised for a comeback. But Bush is on the WRONG SIDE of practically every key issue...how does one gain momentum from there?
“(McCain) went on to narrowly defeat Romney in New Hampshire, and then was on a path to the nomination. He had risen from the dead. It was a story everyone loved.”
Bush is not McCain (who is very talented at one thing, attacking other Republicans), and Trump is not Fred Thompson, Huckabee, or Romney. Trump is in a DIFFERENT LEAGUE, and so is Cruz, for that matter.
“Other analysts have compared his path to the nomination as similar to that of John Kerry’s in 2004. Wait for the more popular, media-savvy candidates to tear each other apart and then look presidential enough for the party consensus to rally around you.”
Note how he doesn’t mention Howard Dean’s name here...because he knows that Dean cannot hold a candle to Trump or Bush, and mentioning Dean’s name would TOTALLY DISCREDIT this attempted argument.
“Jeb’s strategy is straightforward: Continue to attack Trump directly. Doing so not only improves perceptions about Jeb’s character and toughness, it also positions him to get some credit for any underperformance on the part of Trump, a solid bet considering Trump’s popularity comes from groups that tend to have lower-than-average engagement in the political process.”
Trump has a LOT OF SUPPORT here, too. And we are far from “lower than average” engagement. Nice try, though. Also hard to see here how Bush can expect to win anything while getting defeated at every turn.
“Call it a media bias for the establishment, or the bias toward a dramatic story. But any underperformance will be counted as a double-disappointment for Trump. Any time Jeb outpaces expectations, he’ll get double the credit. Jeb as the man who finally tamped down the Trump revolt is a much better story for Jeb than the Bush who bullied everyone from end to end with the money of other rich men.”
Agree on the media bias - according to “the media” Trump has lost EVERY DEBATE, yet he’s at 40% and lapping the field, still. So I guess that doesn’t hold for him.
“Let Cruz, Rubio, Fiorina, Carson, and Christie battle each other for now. Jeb just has to go after Trump relentlessly, even when it looks futile.”
It is futile, and Rubio is now fading, Carson and Fiorina are dead, and Christie will just be a blip (or blimp) in the Northeast.
“After the summer, fall, and winter of The Donald, after the non-aggression pact between Cruz and Trump, the party simply needs a well-connected, well-funded Floridian Bush with nothing left to lose but $100 million of a super PAC’s cash on hand.”
Maybe so, but this doesn’t explain how you pry loose the Trump/Cruz voters, who are over 50% in the polls (and over 60% if Carson is added). This is not a winning strategy - and face it, there isn’t one.
As substantiation for his thesis this writer offers exactly zilch.
Next.
“Jeb canât even reply during a debate with the Burger King âkingâ! $1.49 for 10 Chicken Nuggets.”
So I’m not the only one who’s thought of Jeb there.
“HE IS DEAD JIM
Maybe if he changes his last name to Eisenhower.
Jebito ,es tostada, tostadas de pan blanco que es!
“Maybe if he changes his last name to Eisenhower.”
Then he would be JEE.
We need to REMEMBER MISSISSIPPI in order to prevent the GOPe from rigging something to get their man in.
