That must be a new feature for FR. I used to post a lot and never saw that happen.
Yeah I know I’m fairly local to you, and based my view of Claremont on my time working at the colleges, it was unfair to paint the whole city with that brush and I apologize. I feel the same way about it when people in other states slam us, especially considering there is just as much liberal stupidity in their supposed perfect Conservative states.
I think in time he will soften that stance as he becomes less close-minded and attached to his pre-suppositions and will eventually accept or support Trump.
In other words, with time I think this author wonât see Trump as âflawedâ as he does now.>>> i hope so my bro likes rubio but agrees with much of what trump says. and doesn’t trust cruz. don’t know why. but i don’t trust rubio and cruz just won’t do on a national stage. too young. trump just cuts to the issue for people who want to reject the obtuse culture and the stupid (correct word) that is killing America.
We will all be anti-Trump when he drops-out and endorses Hitlary.
Baloney. No doubt Reagan had some positive things to say about FDR, but he was hardly uncritical.
His Acceptance Speech in 1980 was built on exposing FDR's FRAUDULENT campaign of 1932. Reagan started with a long quote from FDR about how he was going to cut federal spending, cut the tariff, end the deficit, and abolish dozens and dozens of unnecessary federal agencies and bureaus. And then Reagan told how FDR broke every promise, and the Democrat party had continued in the socialist direction set by FDR. The speech begins, AND ENDS, with Reagan calling FDR a liar.

As a governor, he was all for abortion.
More baloney. Reagan said later that he was told the bill he signed would reduce abortions. Maybe he was culpable for being fooled, but Reagan was NEVER "all for abortions." It is highly probable that Reagan was not on his guard because in 1967 it had not yet dawned on a lot of decent people that pro-abortion people even existed.
Just another snotty, snobbish anti-Trump article.
thx i neededt hat primer on unicode
It takes more than cursory attention to figure out his points.
As ISO-8859-1 (Latin-1), apparently. See #57 for a short explanation and links to user scripts which fix the problem client-side.
the program which retrieves the data from the database and prepares & presents the thread page contains an error.
Nope. You can retrieve old posts which should exhibit the problem but don't. Example containing Cyrillic — try quoting that post via simple copy/paste. The bug occurs when the post text is added to the database, not when it is retrieved.
The problem began appearing last October, around the time FR pages were getting banned by Google due to a post which linked to a malware site. It could be that the bug resulted from an ill-advised attempt to deal with that situation.
Sick to death of these elitist purists. Unfortunately Thomas Jefferson isn’t running for President. It looks like Trump, Cruz, Hillary and Sanders are the only possibilities. Thank you I will take Trump or Cruz gladly and this elitist can go back to his ivory tower and throw himself out of it.
I appreciate reading comments from someone else who actually read the article.
His points about the governments failures under Obama are dead on and he has identified the real reason people are following Trump.
And if Cruz does not get the nomination, I will happily vote for Trump. I know he is not a conservative, but he loves America and will do what is best for America.
Hillary’s first and only love is herself. ( Huma is just a fling)
if you paste the text in notepad, it will replace all the funky characters at once.. Then copy it to the posting box.
To his dying day.....Reagan praised and revered FDR.I've done some work for the daughter and son in-law of Reagan's Secretary of Agriculture (Ling). The son in-law's dad worked for Governor Reagan.
The son in-law told me they were going to vote for McCain only if he chose Joe Lieberman as his Running mate. I guess they voted Obama or sat on their hands, I didn't ask.
"You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right. Well I'd like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There's only an up or down"...
Exactly why couldn’t a tool like this be inserted into server posting code and have it over and done in one fell swoop?
I’ve been telling Jim and whoever does the server code how to fix it for a while now, but I get ignored or told “it’s all UTF-8, nothing can be wrong”.
It’s frustrating. No other site messes up like this.
This all started exactly around the time when there was that brouhaha about Google, possibly others, tagging some sites as “dangerous” or something because of some link-back problem to other sites that may/may not contain malicious code.... Something was done....
This site never did that until then.

Nobody is perfect, but it helps, a LOT, to look deeper than headlines.
Yes it does.
Trump is an old fashioned CONSERVATIVE.
Put down the pipe. Trump hasn't done a conservative thing in his life. Not Reagan Conservative, and certainly not Goldwater. His record is a wasteland of crony-capitalism and liberalism. He's an empty Armani suit selling you a package, just like Romney (only better at it).
Even Reagan praised him.
OK... FORTY years ago...
Trump and father supported Reagan!
So what?
He is the man we need, at this time.
Absolutely not. What we need is a statesman. A man of character and principle. That is what we need at any and every time. That, most certainly, is not Trump.
