Only wealthy people who can finance their own campaigns and have taken property by eminent domain should run for office.
Anyone who needs help is ineligible even if honorable.

Not quite what I am saying. A candidate looking for broad funding from citizenry is meaningful and over the last several election cycles we have seen several people pursue this route successfully. What we see in this election cycle is Cruz and others rushing to several donors, pandering to them, to get their money. They become owned by those few people and their special interests rather than being broadly funded.
