‘Affluenza’ teen Ethan Couch wins three-day stay of deportation
The Sacramento Bee ^ | 12/30/2015 | Ryan Osborne

Ethan Couch and his mother were granted a three-day stay of their deportation to the U.S., The Associated Press reported.

An official with Mexico’s Migration Institute spoke on condition of anonymity because he or she wasn’t authorized to be quoted by name. It was unknown whether Couch’s mother would also be granted a delay, according to the Associated Press report.

Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson said he was told by U.S. Marshals that an attorney representing the Couches filed a "legal writ," to prevent the pair from leaving Mexico.

"Couch and his mother cannot be deported from Mexico until legal matters are resolved," U.S. Marshal’s Service spokeswoman Laura Vega told the Star-Telegram. "We simply do not know when Ethan and Tonya Couch will be returned to the U.S."

Anderson said his office had planned to take the Couches into custody in Houston on Wednesday. The pair had been scheduled to fly from Guadalajara to Houston on Wednesday afternoon.

"They’re trying to fight being brought back somehow," Anderson said. "It’s just a continuing string of what we’ve seen all along. We’re patient people. We’ll be waiting."

The amount of the bribe is being negotiated.

Why did he run?

He killed 4 people and got a slap on the wrist. Then he violated parole.

The kid wants to go thru life without ever facing consequences.

Probation was too strict for the poor little rich boy. He should have gotten off with a hug from the judge.

Jalisco state prosecutor Eduardo Almaguer Ramirez said U.S. authorities knew the mother and son were in Puerto Vallarta because of a phone call to Domino's Pizza, The Associated Press reported.

Not the smartest fugitives on the planet.

Hopefully he’ll get some serious jail time, get sent to a place like Rahway, and be put in with the general population.

Until he is 19, he is still under Ju-Vee rules:

As of now, the most severe punishment Couch could face is 120 days in adult jail, Tarrant County District Attorney Sharen Wilson said at a press conference

Those pigs are bargaining. They want Mexico to declare "we won't return them unless you guarantee no punishment for either of them".

That's *exactly* what they're looking for.

Very confused. Why did he run?

He was filmed playing beer pong. One of the conditions of his probation is that he cannot have any alcohol for 10 years. So he violated his probation and that violation could send him to serve real time in juvenile detention and have his sentence re-evaluated. Now he may be able to be sentenced as an adult and serve 4 consecutive 10-year sentences.
