That sounds like a sensible strategy considering that we have at least two months of winter left. Of course, there is a good chance that the gathering could grow and, with it, the news coverage. That is not necessarily a bad thing either.

The county sheriff and locals are very unhappy about the occupation.
It's not an easy place to get to and I'm sure the roads are well-covered.
You'd probably need to travel light and sneak in there at night - that won't encourage too many joiners.
