A bill to repeal major components of the Affordable Care Act that would also defund nationwide healthcare provider Planned Parenthood would reduce the federal deficit by $516 billion over the next 10 years, the Congressional Budget Office said in an estimate published Monday. [...]
The bill, dubbed the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, would repeal several requirements vital to Obamacare, including the mandate that requires employers of a minimum size to offer employees health insurance. It would also undo what's known as the individual mandate, which requires all Americans to buy health insurance or pay a hefty fine. Republicans have previously highlighted the savings that would result from a repeal of these sections, such as their contention that eliminating the employer mandate would save $7.9 billion from 2016 to 2025. Still, the CBO has projected that doing so would leave an additional estimated 750,000 people uninsured after 2018. ...

It’s not so much about the money as it is having a soul.
well what are waiting for? Oh right, the election.
the sad part is the estimate is about half a year’s deficit nowadays.
At least.
That’s a good beginning.
“The White House has credited the Affordable Care Act with helping 16.4 million adults in the U.S. gain health insurance coverage along with lowering healthcare costs, improving medical care and saving lives.”
Yes at the point of an IRS gun, or the expense of Medicare & Medicaid. That is not the way people should be insured.
It doesn’t really repeal very much beyond the individual mandate and the employment mandate.
Repealing Obamacare, Defunding Planned Parenthood Would Save $516 Billion Over 10 Years: CBOI hate this "over 10 years" shit.
The (not so) funny thing is our ANNUAL trade deficit with China alone is about $5 billion...That would be $50 billion "over 10 years".
That math is WAY off, it saves infinitely more than that.
As with all CBO calcs. , it’s a matter of garbage in/ garbage out accounting.
These people seem to try to stick with running the numbers that they are given, in my opinion to a fault.
Watching Paul Ryan on Hannity trying to claim to be conservative for the ‘Reconsideration’ up for a vote on Wednesday. He think we are too stupid to know it takes 2/3rds to overcome nobama’s veto. How many of his dem friends are going to join in 2/3rds over-ride?
Guess our wondering if he had converted the reason he shaved.
Pisson him! No different from the Cryer Boner, go along with nobama on the really big stuff, then come up with meaningless stuff afterward to prove he’s conservative.
This 16.5 Million that they keep throwing out there is a big fat lie..
Do it
"Give us the Whitehouse and we'll be able to do something."
Ban Obamacare! Replace it with Trumpcare—something on schedual and that will work.
It does not take two thirds to defund. But that of course never was his purpose. Keeping the government from shutting down and perpetuating its growth is endemic to the Uniparty.
The Trump effect in full swing. Trump is not the president yet and the House is finding courage. Wait until Trump is sworn in. You ain’t seen nothing yet!
Courage to do what? Fully funding Obamacare is not courage; it’s collaboration.
I’m talking about the bill to do away with the individual and employer mandate.
Like I said, those purposes could have been realized via defunding, rather than concocting yet another Kabuki-theater bill that everyone knows Obama will veto and for which not enough votes exist in either house of Congress to override a veto.
