Anyhow there seems to be no real hero or heroine here. Holding the lad at gunpoint for police would be a legal thing but it looks like it wasn’t even dreamed of here. Society still enforces other norms even if not sexual ones any more.

The daughter should be severely punished as well. Punishment serves two functions one of which is setting an example to others. If all acted as this mother the message would get out that chastity is a value worth protecting. Yes, we would never stop all misbehavior but we would certainly retard its spread./p>

16 year old with a 16 year old having consensual sex isn’t going to be considered statutory rape in any state.

Arizona, like many others, basically give a pass to consensual sex between minors within 2 years of each other’s age.

Most have an exception clause for damage incurred while “committing a crime” or similar verbiage. Doesn’t mean, though, there is no valid civil suit. In order to minimize fuss, mama will probably end up consenting in court to reimburse for it in exchange for everyone’s hands getting slapped and nobody going to jail.
