Burns, Oregon, is not Bundy Ranch

Let me be clear: the situation in Oregon does not remotely compare to the events that took place at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada. In Nevada, the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) was the aggressor, which included a very real threat of violence against the Bundy family. The Bundy family appealed to their neighbors and friends for help. And help rightly arrived. The legal nuances of the Bundy situation notwithstanding, BLM gave the appearance of preparing another Waco incident that just could not be tolerated. Over 80 innocent Americans, including elderly men and women and small children, were murdered by our federal government during that unconscionable raid. There must NEVER be another Waco in this country.

The decision of Ammon Bundy (Cliven Bundy's son) - and the men who are with him – to mount an armed takeover of the remote, empty Malheur National Wildlife Refuge building in Harney County outside Burns, Oregon, is unwise, careless, and downright foolish. There is no just cause for such action.

Previous to the move to take over the federal building, a peaceful protest in support of the Hammond family had taken place in Burns. This protest was commendable and well-conducted. Hundreds of local residents took part in that peaceful protest. The local community of Burns was very sympathetic to the plight of the Hammonds and rightly angered by the federal government's treatment of them.

Dwight Hammond, Jr. and his son Steven had been arrested, tried, and convicted of arson for the burning of federal land that adjoins Hammond land. The Hammonds say they were burning their land for agricultural purposes and the fire inadvertently spread to federal land. The feds say the Hammonds burned the land to cover up poaching.

Good information on the standoff in Burns, Oregon involving Bundy's sons. Sound as though there may be agent provocateurs.

There is no “just cause” for any kind of resistance to tyranny according to the edicts of a tyrannical government or for those whose passivity results in the victory of such a government. Anyone who thinks these men aren’t justified in what they’re doing hasn’t watched the burning and rioting of this summer with the full consent and protection of government officials. They also haven’t watched the possessions and livelihood of these Oregon ranchers wantonly burned and destroyed by order of the same government.

That’s what comes of relying on the pap put out by media sources instead of researching all information. To be sure, any information or proof provided by the victims of such oppression of said government is hard to come by but it’s certainly available.

It’s crunch time for government tyrants and those who oppose them on many fronts here in this nation. The time for passivity has passed.

Things have changed, a lot, since Waco and Ruby Ridge. One being the advent of the Internet and social media. Also, conservatives are much more attuned to government overreach since those days. Should the Federal government, whatever agency, attempt another such confrontation the results would be beyond imaginable. Possibilities may not have been seen since the Civil War.

There’s a lot going on but I think we’ve seen Ammon Bundy trying to keep the protest dialed down by sending the heavily armed folks away yesterday and holding civil conversation with the sheriff on Thursday.

The message is more focused on demands like ‘release the Hammonds, let Harney County’s people manage their own lands and so on....’

As Bundy pointed out, the sheriff is being pressured by the FBI and he is the point man they are using.

I think there is political pressure from the Republican Party to shut this protest down.

Local businessman Tim Smith has convinced half of the “Committee of Safety” leader in Harney County (3) to sign a letter urging the group to leave. The other three won’t.

Turns out Tim Smith is also Vice-chairman of the Republican Party in Harney County.

The GOP presidential candidates have also spoken the same way as Smith, saying they care but stop protesting.

Back in 1962 to deal with Martin Luther King’s dialing up a protest in Albany, GA by getting himself arrested and thrown in jail, the Kennedy Administration sent a person down anonymously to bail King out.

It was no coincidence that an audio tape of MLK’s sex life was sent to him in January 1964. I think the Democrats wanted protests that could disrupt the political process in the presidential year shut down.

The Civil Rights movement agreed on July 29, 1964 to suspend protests until after the election to help Johnson win for the Democrats.

Right or wrong, we would not have known about this issue of the Hammonds and federal takeover of lands unless Ammon Bundy and the others did what they did.

I’m not so sure these two incidents don’t compare.

Nevada: Reed wanted the land for a business deal he/his son was promiting = “Land Grab”?

Oregon: Feds want to expand a wildlife refuge (they have been at this for years for this particular ranch) = “Land Grab” by forcing the rancher off. Note what he has to pay before he gets out of prison or the gubmint takes the land.

There is a hell of a lot of things we DO NOT KNOW about this mess.

“mount an armed takeover of the remote, empty Malheur National Wildlife Refuge building”

Yep, the Feds should be running scared. They could have ‘taken-over’ using a broom stick and they would get the same labeling from all around.

When the soap and voting box no longer matter...

1. The federal govenment has possession of lands that BELONG TO THE STATES.. i udnerstand its about 1/3 of the country.
2. The Constitution provides that when a territory becomes a state, the feds can keep land for military installations and other ares necessary for a legitimate federal use3. The lands out west are uncontitutionally “owned” by the Feds and the BLM therfor has NO RIGHTS TO DO ANYTHING.
3. The local sheroiff is the only Constitutional law enforcement authority in a confrontation the likes of BLM and the ranchers...
4. that is the similarity between the bundy standoff and this scenario.

Far as the “occupation” of a federal facility.... I dont ahve the slightest idea why they did it and they probably regret it. Perhaps it was for publicity... But then agin when people on the LEFT ..”occupy” they are lauded in the media as heroes...

Now the situation has escalated withe the arrival of Idaho 3%ers...

I hope there is a peaceful resolution to the scenario..

far as the individuals who were tried for the fires... the underlying issue there is when an incompetent obama party appointee got the original sentence increased to the max.

WHAT ABOUT THE FIRES THAT BLM HAS STARTED THAT HAVE BURNED OUT LEGIT RANCHERS AND KILLED THEIR CATTLE AND PROPERTY..??

fact is government agencies and bureaus bypass the CONSTITUTION and that is the crux of the problem....

Tried- judged- convicted & sentenced is one part of this.

The 2nd part is having to serve another sentence because the FEDS decided differently than the original judge.

IF the FEDS can do this to the Hammonds——they can do it to ANY PERSON IN THE USA.

THINK STRAIGHT!!!!
