Ten sailors aboard two U.S. Navy boats were seized by Iran in the Gulf on Tuesday, and Tehran told the United States the crew members would be promptly returned, U.S. officials said.
“We have received assurances from the Iranians that our sailors are safe and that they will be allowed to continue their journey promptly,†White House spokesman Josh Earnest told CNN.

Well its not like Obama wants to empty Gitmo or anything like that. First he would try to have an ambassador kidnapped that he could ‘trade’ for released prisoners, and if that failed he would ‘find’ some traitor that had been awol for 4 or 5 years to ‘trade’. But his term is almost up and Gitmo isn’t going to empty itself.
Poor timing. Less than 444 days until Trump takes office...

Very much doubt that the President of Iran and the Foreign Minister could withstand the backlash from the hard liners if they promptly release these sailors. They can assure Kerry all they want but no Iranian official wants to be seen as the guy who gave the order to release them. Right now Obama’s people are desperately seeking to avoid another “hostage crisis”. Ultimately it will cost the US taxpayer a small fortune to secure their release.

Regardless of the diplomatic bungling we have come to expect, what I want to know is this...
What the $+:#$ were small boats doing operating in that region without cover from a legit combatant?
I knows it’s been 20 years since I was ‘over there’s but back in my day we wouldn’t have conceived of operations near the lines without at least air cover, if not surface cover.

I thought Kerry and Barry said that the murdering, Iranian ragheads were our new friends. This is starting to look like the last days of the Carter administration.

Obama is going to write the Iranian government a stern letter. If that doesn’t work he may even unfriend them on Facebook!
Hopefully he will not have to resort to threatening to cut off their Netflix subscriptions. Not that he would ever actually do it. That would just be too mean.
