Anyone with a dog already knows this.
Its one reason I stopped watching football - my dog couldn't take it.

Here, too, but with politics. What I would like to know is how they know when the person they're pining for leaves to come home. Whether it's long distance (hours) or across town, one of our girls nails it almost to the minute.

Its one reason I stopped watching football - my dog couldn't take it. I share a house with my son-in-law, a rabid Denver Bronco fan. Whenever he watches a game he yells and emotes at every positive or negative turn of the game for the Broncos. Inevitably, if near the TV he's watching, his dog seeks refuge in my part of the house.

(We are finished. It will just take a while before everyone realizes it.)
