Noting that the statistical destiny of probably more than half of all lottery winners is to file for bankruptcy, it would probably have been wiser for this winner to accept multiple payments instead of taking the winnings all at once. Proverbs 17:16 comes to mind.

Then again, what the government giveth, the government can taketh away, better get what you can now.

This country is trillions of dollars in debt. If the country defaults, then the lotteries will too.

Illinois is not even paying their lottery winners right now because they're in the hole.
