MEXICO CITY (AP) â The first of 8,000 Cuban migrants recently stranded in Central America have crossed the Mexican border into the United States.
Some 180 migrants flew from Costa Rica to El Salvador, and have been making their way to the U.S.
All are given permission to cross Mexico for humanitarian reasons. The groups travelled separately across Mexico and the organization sponsoring their trip says the first arrived late Thursday in Laredo, Texas.

I have a question - let's say the commie regime falls overnight and there would be no Cuban authorities stopping people from mass migrating to the USA. Would that mean under the current law every single Cuban entering the USA would be eligible to stay for life?
The current law was written under the assumption we would get trickles of refugees from Cuba and that the Cuban regime would still be commie and in place. What if the regime collapsed? Every Cuban that can get something that floats decided to head to Florida to get refugee status and welfare? The law as written would make the whole Cuban island eligible for this.
I think this law needs a re-evaluation.

Insane. They are out of Cuba and safe somewhere. Why does everyone who’s some stripe of Hispanic have a natural right to come here. Just what we need, more cubes.
Will nobody stop Obama?

First, when you have a gubmint that is INSTRUCTING THESE INVADERS TO LIE in order to gain entry, there is a problem.
Secondly, if you cut off the entitlements this flood would slow to a trickle and truly include those seeking freedom, NOT GOODIES.

What makes you think they are really Cubans?

Castro has learned what Mexico has learned. Let your people come to America for the goodies AND THEY WILL SEND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS BACK HOME TO FOR YOUR #1 SOURCE OF REVENUE.
American taxpayers are being RAPED to support the FOREIGN families of these illegal invaders.

Did I say “MILLIONS”? I meant “BILLIONS!”
To: Signalman
Now way these will. I ask before...I ask again, since when does castro let 8k people leave his country? No way our regime will let anyone in who vote with a R.
Has he cleared his prisons again?

For Cubans you don't need any excuse - any Cuban that makes it to the USA - if I understand the law - is granted asylum and welfare because of the Cold War and us needing to fight the Cuban commies and butter up the powerful Cuban community in Miami.
So my scenario is not that far off from reality. Let us say next day Castro's regime collapses - you think Cubans will stay in Cuba or go on everything that floats and head to the USA which still has the same Asylum law on the books since the Cold War?
Can anyone tell me the law should not be changed to prevent this scenario?

I'd rather have 8,000 Cubans than 80,000 Syrians any day of the week...
That is not an endorsement, just an observation...

I know several Cuban exiles rather well...
My gut tells me a lot of ex-Cubans or Americans of Cuban descent would be leaving Miami and the USA going to Cuba, some to try and reclaim lost property and lands ...
Some will go simply for the chance to rebuild their wonderful island and prosper by the new found freedom...
You would be hard pressed to say that of any other peoples...

How did 8,000 "migrants" wind up getting "stranded" in Costa Rica? Did they swim past Cayman Islands, Jamaica then swim past the coast of Honduras and then past the whole coastline of Nicaragua and finally wash ashore in Costa Rica?
Or, did Cuba take the worst of their criminals, pack them onto a boat and deliver them to Costa Rica?
To: Sub-Driver
Cruz & Rubio have been advocating for them, but I need to dig for the source. Google might work if anyone doesn’t want to wait.
