I had hoped that Trump and Cruz would combine as one ticket. That seems less likely now.
I’ve always been willing to vote for either of them in the general election (and no other Republican) but I have preferred Trump. In part, because I think Trump is more electable. He has charisma. Many Independents like him. Some Democrats like him. Trump will attract a lot of votes from a lot of sources.
And Trump is right — Cruz has not made many friends. Rightly or wrongly, he has rubbed many people the wrong way. I see Cruz as less electable than Trump.
But if Cruz is the nominee, I would still vote for him.

People don’t like him because he’s had a lifelong habit of putting his own personal desires ahead of everyone elses. All hat, no cattle.
“Nobody in Congress likes him” could probably be attributed to the fact Cruz doesn’t go along with the rest of them like 95 percent of the Republicans funding Obamacare, Planned Parenthood, Amnesty for illegal immigrants, the influx of “Migrants” from the Middle East and the list goes on.
When the Boehner-Ryan-McConnell crowd put through their massive spending programs called ‘budgets’ that drive the country deeper into debt (over 20 trillion dollars by 2017) Ted Cruz has stood up to oppose them.
So I don’t see anything wrong with that......
The problem is that the Trump-Cruz fight might lead to Jeb rising in the polls. I think its what the Republican Establishment wants right now, I don’t want the fighting going on right now.
I don’t quite trust Politico, but if those quotes are accurate, then I’m VERY disappointed in Trump. And I say that as a Trump supporter (as my previous posts will show).
Trump’s got the Patton thing working for him. Now he needs to moderate that with a little bit of Ike.

Trump was already sounding more and more like a 4th grader every day, now he’s moved to 4th grade little girl with his “nobody likes him” comment.
I’m done with Trump. His “win at all costs” crap, with this kind of personal attack, just destroyed my opinion of him since he started going after Cruz.
He’s right. Cruz has a creepy Uriah Heep quality that is off-putting.
This is the very same thing that Rush warned the Donald about the last time. Question is... Will Rush now have to choose between ideology or ratings? Which side will he come down on?
So Trump goes on for months and months saying that Ted is a nice guy and that he has gotten to know Ted and that he likes him. Now, Ted is nasty and no one likes him.
You can’t come off sounding any more petty, thin skinned and personally vindictive than that. Keep on talking Trump. Keep on talking.
Well it’s true that no one likes him. This really isn’t controversial in any way. There are those who might say that he is disliked because he disagrees with The Powers That Be, which qualifies him as some sort of martyr.
However, both Jeff Sessions and Mike Lee disagree with The Powers That Be, and you hear no such comments about either of them. From anyone, at any time...this is exclusively a Cruz personality defect.
I suggest to you that Cruz will not be able to get the naming of a Post Office thru any future congress; the animosity from both sides is that bad.
Many here believe that Cruz can reverse some of Obama’s issues by sheer force of ideology, but that is not true: he needs allies. He has none.
Being the most conservative in a particular race is of no value if you are also the most obnoxious in the race.
I predict a nice, reasoned and civil thread proceeding from here.
Trump’s such a child.....he has no discerning ability when it comes to accessing what’s bad and what’s good outside of how it advances his own agenda’s. ...he uses anything which will advance himself.
Trumps vocabulary seems entirely composed of short words and simple sentences.
“Nasty guy” will stick.

It is a fact that, after the battle is over, the winner needs the support of his opponent’s partisans. While a good bashing is traditional in politics, you need to take care that you haven’t crossed any lines that would prevent your opponent’s partisans from supporting you.
Trump didn’t have to worry about it so much with Bush’s supporters, since they were so few. But with Cruz, its a bit different. There are a lot more of them, and they are many of them very personally committed. A slam at Cruz is interpreted as a slam at them too.
Trump can get away with some of this stuff, just because (so far) most Cruz people like Trump, and most people factor some of that in as Trump being Trump. But slash and burn politics do have blow-back. You could say this about both candidates; they both need support from the other once the primaries are over, and their supporters have to be able to bury the hatchet once the convention is done. A little nastiness can be tolerated, a lot of nastiness can cross lines that can’t be uncrossed.
For me, I prefer Cruz, but I like Trump for his stand on national sovereignty so he is my second choice. As a result I don’t normally attack anyone for supporting him. I do worry that, on issues not related to national sovereignty his record is all over the map; but this year national sovereignty is the number one issue which is the reason he has so much conservative support. The people who like Trump don’t mind him being nasty, when the nastiness is directed at our common enemies; we are happy someone is finally speaking up. It may start to wear thin when we see it directed against people we like.
