The Trum/Cruz fallout has touched off a nasty civil war on FR, the likes of which I have never seen since I joined.

I agree.

I basically like both guys. I'd vote for either of them.

While I have certainly seen Trump supporters attack Cruz but over the past 7 months or so I don't think Trump people have made a special effort to destroy Cruz. But the anger and hatred directed at Trump is amazing to me.

I honestly don't understand why so many Conservatives hate hate hate Trump. Sure, he's not perfect, but the guy attacks the Establishment, the government bureaucracy, the IRS, and the media. He's what I have been looking for. But many Conservatives hate his guts.

I really think it's weird.

Full disclosure: I have tried to only be positive about Cruz but the situation here has recently gotten so bad, that I have taken swipes at Cruz. I'd still vote for him, but I prefer Trump and if Trump is going to be attacked non-stop, then I won't sit back and play nice. That's the whole GOPe game right there. So now I'm one of the jerks making negative comments.

I have to admit I’ve reevaluated the type of people that come to this site. Yes, I’m a Cruz supporter, and I feel, objectively, Cruz is the closest politician we’ve had to ideal since I’ve been a sentient adult. Yet, many here see it very differently in large part due of Trump’s candidacy (yes, my opinion). It would be interesting to know if the world lacked Donald Trump how his supporters would view Ted Cruz.

It was bad even when Trump and Cruz got along.

Relative newbie (no slight intended). This is pretty mild. This primary contest could, but shouldn't, lead to a purge or collection of some opusus (voluntary self-exile).

The tension now can be resolved with little in the way of lingering hard feelings. People just need to check their emotions at the door, best they can.

The Iraq war debate was more intense(although probably more one sided), in my opinion.

I think we need to stop being emotional about this and let the courts decide.

I recall that almost all of us we’re unglued with the obvious fake BC Obama was touting.

Cruz has a problem. Whether you are for or against him, the matter will solve itself by us saying it’s so. It’s not.

Sorry, Judge Napolitano, it’s not. Sorry, Mark YOU IDIOT Levin, It’s not. Sorry, all you TRump haters out there, it’s not.

Anyone, who thinks it is, is naïve.

I agree.

I support Trump.

Watch this position and post get me flamed like I was a red-headed stepchild.

I also found this video of an RNC man speaking prior to the debate yesterday, a guy named Redfield. This is the RNC’s position on the vularians’ #coldanger: https://youtu.be/OT75R0uksSo

Nothing new really. Same thing happened last election. Conservatives split the vote among Newt, Santorum etc and allowed Romney to win. Getting conservatives to rally around a candidate is like herding cats.

A lot of the polarization is due to various kinds of puppetry and wishful blog-pimping, I thinks. It doesn't really matter unless it gets out of hand and impacts FR unduly. At which point JR will engage the ban.

Apparently only conservatives care about birth citizenship, so Trump probably can exploit this (and FR!) without impact on the general election. Face it, the RINOs and the media will give Trump a free ride on Cruz birther attacks, and it probably doesn't matter to the general election. If the media play it, it will appear in FR.

Candidates must play an effective game to win the nomination. That's all that matters right now. Frankly the RINO elite is still in apparent control of the convention, so all candidates must flirt with them one way or another. For now.

There in lies the problem. I see you joined in 2010. Almost every time there is an election it gets real cantankerous here on FR. Years ago some Freepers even got banned.

I've seen bigger, but not as nasty as this. It only gets this nasty when battling Democrats. Oh wait . . .

Actually, it was very similar last election cycle (2008). I lost two friends who were long standing Freepers for backing Mitt Romney..they were permanently banned. There have been purges: Rudy Giuliani supporters got the boot en-mass.
