Speaking of prime ministers, having spent his entire premiership assuring us that whatever happens in the news headlines is nothing to do with Islam, David Cameron has suddenly discovered a few things that are to do with Islam. The opening paragraph from Mr Cameron's column in the London Times:
Where in the world do you think the following things are happening? School governors' meetings where male governors sit in the meeting room and the women have to sit out of sight in the corridor. Young women only allowed to leave their house in the company of a male relative. Religious councils that openly discriminate against women and prevent them from leaving abusive marriages.
The answer, I'm sorry to say, is Britain.

Humor can be disarming... Unfortunately often it disarms the person that’s laughing.
His writing style is very amusing. He’s a wit, no doubt about it, but like all wits, he’s a serious person. I would even say he was a slightly depressed person. Wit and depression go hand in hand.
I’ve often turned him off when he guest hosts Rush because he starts going on about how America is over. He may be right but I can’t deal with it. And he’s my favorite sub!

I think we all better start finding a way to deal with it or it will be over. And it won’t be just America but the white race also. Getting angry would be a good start.

Because of the dubious stuff that went in Salem the Royal Governor Created the Superior Court that could hear appeals from the District Court.
Over the years the power of the District Courts was reduced so that they can only levy fines or give you 2.5 years on the County. You can request a Jury Trial.
In the Superior Court you can get the AX, all my jury duty has been on that level. My Lawyer pals recommend to their felons, do the 2.5 rather than 10 in the Big House.

Getting back to Miller, he was a NY commie and used the witch trials as an allegory for the McCarthy era. Read up on the communist party and their fellow travelers.

The Crucible can be read on one level - the actual Salem witch trial. It’s a very good play with wonderful dialogue using the language of people who still knew their King James Bible. I have seen many productions and the McCarthy theme is not very obvious. And the further we get away from that time, the less obvious it is.

An argument can be made that those who wrote the King James were influenced by the Lollard Bible, there is a thing called the subtle twisting of language to prove a particular point, The Bard gave an example and I can't remember it, damn my mind.
My point was simply that The Crucible is a strong play that does not have to be about anything else but the events of the 17th century. There is nothing in the script to indicate it is about a modern political event. I only mentioned the play to engage with you about Salem and its enduring interest. If I knew you would harangue me about Miller, I would never have brought up the play. As always on FR, I made the mistake of being “sociable.”
I know what a Lollard Bible is. I study Medieval English history.
Speaking of the Lollard Bible I had a buy on a 90% complete one a few years ago. I lost it when I was out bid, a price I could not match, while it was being authenticated.
What really pissed me off, it was 90% complete, is that it was probably sold as pages.
I’ve always hated “The Crucible”.
