SCHMIDT: Look, right now you look at Trump’s strength across the country and the national polls, all these establishment candidates — Kasich, Rubio, Bush, Christie — they need Ted Cruz to beat Donald Trump in Iowa. If Ted Cruz doesn’t win the state of Iowa, Donald Trump is gone. He’s gonna win New Hampshire. He’s gonna be very, very tough to catch as this race moves south and moves into the bigger states.

Hardly, they have fought Trump since he announced. I think they have been getting cozy with Cruz.

.

Rush Limbaugh nailed this one perfectly ...

Rush wants a TRUE conservative, and Ted Cruz is the ONLY GOP 2016 candidate to receive that accolade from Rush Limbaugh ...

No.Body.Else.

THe GOPe will never support Cruz. They will not support Trump either, but they have less control over him because in the end, he can go all the way without a nickel from them, and Cruz can’t.

Once Jeb is out I look for the GOPe to pile on behind Rubio like there’s no tomorrow. We’ll see....

Trump has put them in uncharted waters, this is the black swan event they had no idea could happen - a candidate who doesn’t need their money or machinery and could care less what they think.

Rush Limbaugh is a sell-out to GOPe and Goldman Sachs. He’s obviously pro-Amnesty.

Limbaugh’s a flip-flopper. Very nasty. Hates New Yorkers and hates the heroes of 911. I’ll bet he’s even Canadian!

I quit listening to Rush many years ago. I did not need him or anyone else to tell me how to think or what to think. I do my own research and make up my own mind and, you know what? I am right. I learned to do that when Gov. Perry was running. I thought he was great until I researched him. Changed my mind very quickly. Now, I do that for any candidate.

I caught about 15min of Rush at lunch today. If it wasn’t clear before, it is now. Rush is in the tank for Cruz. He’s an American and free to make that choice. But he should be honest about it, otherwise it just appears that he think his audience isn’t smart enough to know what he is doing.

I heard quite a bit of Rush today, although apparently I missed this particular bit. Rush made a whole lot of very interesting, very sharp observations.

Hard to imagine the “establishment” truly going for either of these guys. But sometimes I believe there might be two different tiers to the establishment. I think the upper-tier, uber-elite, banker-globalist crowd is probably more worried about Trump, due to his trade/border talk. Yet, the lower-tier, the more broad establishment of the beltway and northeastern media elites really, really despise Cruz more, due to his cultural/social conservatism.

It’s an interesting notion, though, that with Trump’s incessant emphasis on ‘deal-making,’ that he’s somewhat giving the signal to the entrenched elite not to worry, that he’s going to be a big compromiser. That’s why that whole angle of Trump’s, regarding ‘deals,’ is a bit of a turn-off for me.

I think the GOPe is just running a pick and roll for Rubio. They still believe Trump will falter or stumble before Super Tuesday. Meanwhile, they take Cruz out of second and give Rubio a second shot at it.

Either I am reading this wrong or others are, as I do not see Rush endorsing Cruz over Trump, or vice-versa. Instead he is providing analysis of the GOPe favoring Trump over Cruz. He is then providing his analysis of why the GOPe would entertain this reasoning of choosing Trump over Cruz.

From what I have read, I do not listen to Rush, is him being supportive of both of these candidates. While it is true that Cruz has shown himself to be a true conservative, which the GOPe absolutely hate, Rush's analysis makes perfect sense. Trump on the other hand has displayed liberal tendencies in the past. I will vote for either of them, because this country can survive neither a Clinton or Sanders Presidency.

Cruz scares the GOPe because they know what he would be like as President.

Trump scares the GOPe because they don’t know what he would be like as President.
