“Cruz does not pass “nearly every litmus test they can throw at him.” On the big one, immigration (illegal or otherwise), he fails. I prefer a rock-ribbed American, not someone who had dual loyalties up until 18 months ago - and yes, Cruz was aware that he was a Canadian citizen, folks. Why hold onto Canada? Hedging his bets? Besides that, he supports the hollowing out of American industries. Why else would he support TPA (he penned an op-ed for the New York Times in support of TPA, you may remember)? He supports increasing the number of foreign H1B workers. Teddy bears for illegals with Glenn Beck. Sure, Cruz is pro-life, anti-gay marriage, pro-gun, etc. But if he is not only complicit, but actively engaged in changing our demographics, changing our identity permanently, what does it matter? Those issues which are important to us will be forever decided, slanted to accommodate a third-world populace who knows nothing of our values, our heritage, our history. Cruz uses the wedge issues like gay marriage (as does every other professional politician) to distract from the issue I find most prescient.
