I detest being continuously jaded in my opinion of the average voter these days. On the republican side there is something I have been aware of since 2001, perhaps prior to that and I saw it again with a different hair do, in 2012.
Methinks what is not being admitted to regarding this trump debacle, is that Cruz has a ethnic last name.
In 2012, it was Romney’s Mormonism underpinning the usual political arguments.
As I said, I don’t want to see this, but It has to be a factor. There is no other explanation that makes any sense. I am aware of it, only because I am a self critical, and critical thinking philosophical conservative. As is Ted Cruz, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh and many others currently under attack by association with Cruz. So how can that be?

Many people do not like Cruz, but the Cruz name has been around in the US for many years. It isn’t a new name or anything.
To allude that people who do not like Cruz is based on ethnicity is an insult of the highest magnitude.
That is called a real “attack from the left”.
It's baffling, I'll give you that. But to suggest it might be ethnic, is like suggesting Sara's the perfect fit for Trump, really, because his personal brand is of a guy surrounded by hot babes.
That couldn't have had anything to do with any overture he made to her, now, could it? About as likely as folks rejecting Cruz because of his ethnicity? Hell, it's hard to tell.
