Numbers from Fridayâs jobs report underscores a persistent problem for the U.S. economy: Wages arenât growing fast enough for most Americans. According to the data for December, the average wage for all workers grew at 2.5 percent over the last year, before accounting for inflation. Healthy wage growth would be somewhere in the range of 3.5-4 percent. How can we get to that level of wage growth? A number of proposals have been floated by economists and politicians across the political spectrum. But thereâs one minor fix we can implement that could have major implications: allow workers who quit their jobs to collect unemployment insurance

Along the lines of “drop the retirement age to 55 to create job openings and force wages up for those still working”.
I quit because they wouldn’t let me use the womans restroom. Now give me some money.(my lawyer will be contacting you soon). Yes, I’m a man. No matter.
Insanity is, as Einstein (more or less) noted, supporting democrat proposals over and over again and expecting positive results.
Point of historical order:
Einstein was a Socialist.
I know that. He was wrong on a couple of big things - socialism and "God does not play dice" come to mind. Still, I couldn't resist paraphrasing his famous quote to mean the same thing he said, but worded the way it should have been put.
Unemployment should not be an entitlement. It should be an account owned by the individual worker, something like a 401k. The day you leave your job, for whatever reason, you can draw it all or part, or leave it to supplement your retirement. If you worked a short time, there isn’t much in it. If you worked a long time, there might be a small fortune in it. Either way, it would be your money, you wouldn’t have to justify yourself to anyone in order to get it.
Thats the way it should be handled.
Stupidity: Allow millions, millions, millions, etc. of illegal aliens to enter and stay in the country and then wonder why wages don’t rise.
“The author forget about ....”
Well, a whole lot of crap actually.
For one thing, Employers pay unemployment taxes at rates that increase with number of unemployment insureance claims that are filed. The more claims, the higher tax rate that is calculated against the Employer’s payroll.
Eventually, employers would simply run out of money.
Freakin’ morons.
Another thing they omit: It’s easier to get a job if you are in a job already. Who’s going to hire a quitter? Especially one who says, Yeah, I worked for a while, but I decided to take a year off to watch sops and play computer games.
#3 Have you been nominated for an Oscar? If not you outta complain about that!
If I quit I would lose more then half my salary and I need all I get now so I can’t quit!
I was just joshing, but honestly I want to retire but the cut in pay will be brutal!
Gad. I thought that said QuiLters Prosper. smh
I have actually seen a resume where the guy filled a two-year gap by inserting the job title “Slacker”.
I’d have hired that guy for being honest.
“Thats the way it should be handled.’
Yep and the average US citizen is far too stupid not to spend it all the first weekend. That’s why we had to have the Social Security system.
Remember, we live amongst those who elected our current administration twice.
A slacker vote for democrats program. The dems are more interested in votes than doing things for the good of the country.
Was the guy hired?
