If you think today, that ethanol subsidies is something we need to fall on our sword about, we’ve got bigger problems.

National Review is not, and never has been, the Republican establishment.

Yep. Trump has always been chummy with the D.C. crowd of both parties, and he has an inner need to be loved.

He can take or change any position he wants and he isn’t going to lose his current supporters, so he can go get that GOPe support later. Cruz on the other hand will never get the GOPe support, because he demonstrates core values that they cannot tolerate.

The President has to be able to get along with Congress. Unless you want another Obama issuing executive orders. Trump has pledged that he Will work with Congress. Most people want that.

The folks in the National Review piece includes many conservatives including Thomas Sowell, Reagan’s AG Ed Meese, Dana Loesch, Brent Bozell, etc.

If they were warming to Cruz because he started supporting crony ethanol, I would denounce him and no longer support him.

What’s your excuse with Trump?

Cruz supported something far worse than Ethanol: the 5,000 page Goldman Sachs written TPA/TPP aka Obamatrade. He campaigned for it and cast U. S. Senate votes in support of Barack Obama’s trade legacy.

Ethanol is a temporary subsidy. TPP is forever like NAFTA and Ted Cruz enabled it. That will kill his support in the old rust belt. He has no chance of a path to 270 electoral votes.

I would not be supporting Trump had he enabled Obamatrade. It’s that simple.

Post #5 most ironic post of the year.

Borrowing from your margin account is cronyism?

Really?

As opposed to 4 bankruptcies leaving stockholders holding the bag. Trump’s history of using eminent domain to take private properties for his personal gain.

Cult of personality indeed.

Now supporting a conservative is falling on our sword??

There is no reasoning with cult followers.

All hail the Donald (pbuh)

What NR is now is not what it once was. It’s a bunch of careerists hacks following the money. Right now that is in mainline beltway GOP establishment “conservatism”. Big corportist money pushing their agenda and it is most certainly not our agenda.

Hey genius, catch up, Cruz opposes that deal.

But facts don’t matter to the cult.

The dear leader must be obeyed.

I wasn’t talking about the loan. Heidi Cruz works for sleazy crony capitalist Goldman Sachs. Cruz Family Values? I don’t think we want to go there, FRiend.

I fully expect Trump to drop the Palin endorsement around convention time to get the GOP establishment on his side.

As a Cruzer that also likes Trump, it has become very difficult to read and post on Cruz/Trump threads without going totally insane.

I've been obnoxious, foul mouthed, condescending, belittling, to many FReepers over many subjects for over 10 years. For that I don't apologize, but I regret some of the misplaced attacks on a very few FReepers that were correct while I was mistaken, and to most of whom I have made a public mea culpa.

But in posting for about 12 years and lurking for another 5-6 years, I don't ever remember the vitriol and hated that is flowing back and forth between the Cruzers and the Trumpsters.

Sooner, rather than later, the primaries will be over and someone will win and my hope is that we have not self inflicted such injury upon our selves, that too many will just bail out.

I will pray for all of us to receive some calming effect from our God, we need it.

The President has to be able to get along with Congress. Unless you want another Obama issuing executive orders. Trump has pledged that he Will work with Congress. Most people want that.

Okay let's go down that road. The Majority of Congress want "Common sense Gun Control". How much you want the Mouth of Manhattan to compromise on that issue?

The Majority of congress want "comprehensive Immigration Reform" Meaning Amnesty. The Mouth has already said he would allow most back in. HOw much you want him to Compromise with Congress on that Issue?

The Debt is 19 Trillion increasing by 4 billion a Day. Congress wants to spend MORE money (Yeah the RINOS)...How much you want the Mouth to Compromise over that?

Working with the RATS has always consisted of selling out your base and the rats getting what they want. You don't work with them. YOu PUSH YOUR AGENDA. You go right to the Public over Congresses head and put the pressure on them thru their base.

That is what Ronald Reagan did. IT PISSED OFF the likes of Trent Lott and Bob Dole. The Establishment RINOs of the time.

NR endorsed Romney in 08 and 2012. I think they did an issue like this one against Newt and the others running.

Don't be so sure. The CNN poll model anticipates 350,000 attendees, an astronomical number for the caucuses there. And you have no idea what kind of ground game Ted has. But you should be proud of Trump currying up to McConnell. I figured it but didn't think it would come so soon! You know why they are not doing that with Cruz? Because he is a true conservative. How does it feel to support a big GOPE moderate. If Trump is nominated we will get another deal maker who will go along to get along!

You need to do a little searching here.

I have had my criticism of Trump called “heresy”. Quoting Trump from a series of interviews, some from years ago but some from 2015 was called a “false witness”.

Not exactly a common terms in political circles, but in religious ones...

I rather doubt the GOPe wants Trump. They Joe see the writing on the wall, and figure they better make amends now.
