They are not with Trump due to conservatism. Trumps appeal is simply he has never been in an elected office. They think that makes him the ultimate outsider.
As I said in an earlier post, I will hold my nose and vote for Trump if he is nominated. But the last one I was really proud to vote for was Ronald Reagan. I just have terrible misgivings about DT.

The reason the GOPe will warm up to Trump but not to Cruz is because they know that Cruz serious when he talks about conservative issues and Trump is just saying what he thinks conservatives want to hear.
They can “work with” Trump because they know they can cut deals with him. They know that when push comes to shove Trump is the GOPe.

Cruz has a history of fighting for Conservative causes that he said he would fight for.
