I wish I could say this would make a difference, but we're dealing with a cult of personality here, not unlike the Obama zombies in '08.. By the way, Trump also supported Mitch McConnell in his reelection campaign against Matt Bevin.

“HOPE & CHANGE” will cut deals with the Washington Cartel. Same as it ever was.

Shocker!!!

They know Trump will sign all the great “deals” McConnell and Schumer scheme up.......

Conservatism is dead if Cruz is not the nominee.

They are conceding defeat and now trying to befriend the winner. After the recent polls on Iowa Cruz no longer has a remote chance. Those didn’t even reflect Palin’s endorsement or the popular governors attack on Cruz.

Sorry, the cult of personality is with Cruz’s supporters. Goldman Sachs sleazy crony capitalism = conservative family values? Hardly. Campaigning and casting U. S. Senate votes for Barack Obama’s legacy trade agenda = Principled Conservatism (TM)? Hardly.

The difference between Trump and Cruz supporters is that Trump supporters do not believe their candidate walks on water. There is no ideal conservative candidate in this election. Choose your candidate but just don’t think their are not other candidates on their level.

Why wouldn’t the estabs support him? On balance, he’s one of their own.

Not sure the establishment is warming to Trump. National Review came out against him in a big way.

You nailed it. 4 more years of a cult of personality. If he wins will people scream “ I won’t have to pay my mortgage any more”
But don’t worry. Everything’s going to be GREAT. His first act will be to issue an “Everything is Great” executive order.

But Trump is seizing control of the GOPe plantation or something.

I fully expect Trump to drop the Palin endorsement around convention time to get the GOP establishment on his side.

As he doesn’t believe a word he says and his positions are malleable, he can change his attitude to the GOP literally overnight.

We should be nominating a principled conservative like Cruz, but sadly, many conservatives are bewitched by the siren song of populism.

Like every one else, they see in Trump what they want to see.

From the article:
Trump has received unlikely public praise from GOP luminaries who said they would prefer him to his main rival, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.
Unexpected!

Drink.

Yep. Trump has always been chummy with the D.C. crowd of both parties, and he has an inner need to be loved.

He can take or change any position he wants and he isn’t going to lose his current supporters, so he can go get that GOPe support later. Cruz on the other hand will never get the GOPe support, because he demonstrates core values that they cannot tolerate.

As a Cruzer that also likes Trump, it has become very difficult to read and post on Cruz/Trump threads without going totally insane.

I've been obnoxious, foul mouthed, condescending, belittling, to many FReepers over many subjects for over 10 years. For that I don't apologize, but I regret some of the misplaced attacks on a very few FReepers that were correct while I was mistaken, and to most of whom I have made a public mea culpa.

But in posting for about 12 years and lurking for another 5-6 years, I don't ever remember the vitriol and hated that is flowing back and forth between the Cruzers and the Trumpsters.

Sooner, rather than later, the primaries will be over and someone will win and my hope is that we have not self inflicted such injury upon our selves, that too many will just bail out.

I will pray for all of us to receive some calming effect from our God, we need it.

I rather doubt the GOPe wants Trump. They Joe see the writing on the wall, and figure they better make amends now.

Insanity.

You all have your collective heads where the sun don't shine.

Cruz is trying to make this stick, and it's not likely to work. Think about it, all the GOPe statements on how to get rid of Trump, all the nastiness they've given him, and now suddenly he's joined the GOPe because he's afraid of losing? *Sigh*

Cruz is desperately using this idea from a caller in to Rush from a few days ago, and nothing more. It's an attempt to knock Trump off message.

I don't blame him for this kind of political lie, it's what Trump has done. This one is akin to a hail Mary pass in football.

Cult of personality? Did you see Brent Bozell on TV talking about Cruz? This great man Cruz that, this great man Cruz that. That is a cult of personality that can’t see the forest for the trees. Cruz will lose 40 states Trump will win 40 states. Whatever happened to voting for the most right candidate that can win? We need economic growth in America not K street magazine puritanism.

The reason the GOPe will warm up to Trump but not to Cruz is because they know that Cruz serious when he talks about conservative issues and Trump is just saying what he thinks conservatives want to hear.

They can “work with” Trump because they know they can cut deals with him. They know that when push comes to shove Trump is the GOPe.

JMHO.

Wait until Trump names McConnell as his VP. It’s coming, but it will be too late.

If Trump does get the nomination, watch all of the Trumpkins that have trashed Cruz supporters, indeed anyone who didn't support the Donald, in the most vicious and personal terms, suddenly start having a kumbaya moment, and telling everyone how we now need to come together to beat Hillary.

Well, I can't speak for anyone but myself and my family. But after holding my nose for Romney, I promised I would not vote for another liberal posing as a conservative as "the lesser of two evils". I wouldn't do it for Bush, and I won't do it for the Donald. If Trump gets the nomination we will either vote 3rd party or not vote in the presidential election - and I will try to influence as many people as possible to follow our lead.
